But like my post above says, they already had a very good guy waiting for more plays in Gus Edwards, not a bargain pick if you don't actually need an RB when they could have had plenty of WR's to choose from.
That isn't even a big contract and certainly not when you consider what we gave Bell, Edwards gets 750k lol
I think Ingram is pretty much shot at this point and agreed I'd imagine he gets cut after this season. He's over 30 and he doesn't look as explosive. He was never really a 300 touch guy anyway. I think the plan is to use Dobbins as the bellcow next year. I don't think they view Edwards as anything more than an up the gut back. He's 240 pounds and doesn't catch passes/is never on the field on 3rd down. He's almost like the dive fullback in the triple option and he's pretty damn good in that role.
Do you not think Edwards could be a proper RB without the 3rd down pass catching role? I thought he puts up some good yardage for his limited touches, I thought he had a bit more about him than just a goalline threat but the subtleties of these things pass me by tbh I am English lol
No he does. But he's not a modern day full time runningback if he can't catch the ball in the capacity that at least Fournette did in his rookie year (and improved upon last year) or Derrick Henry last year. He's a good thumper though to close games and take the ball up the middle.
