This team goes nowhere until we get rid of Gase. He's an atrocious coach. If going 3-13 gets us there, I'm 100% in favor of it.
By a bunch of slow run stuffing slugs. You bring on a proven sack master like Clowney who knows how to wrap up and strip sacks, it would do wonders.
Fellas, I'm a Bills fan, if course I know how y'all feel right now. Sorry man. I am excited by my team as the game was not as close as the score indicated. What I don't understand is how the jets are so good at stoping the run, but nothing else. Maybe, just maybe, Josh Allen is just that tough to coral?....and your team will be much better against a pocket guy next week? One week in, it is too early to judge world beaters or lovers.
Stopping Josh Allen would be something Clowney could have helped with. That was Buffalos game plan from the start. They would have been forced to change their strategy at the very least.
Josh Allen played well but is still is bad Qb who is not gonna be consistently good enough for a playoff/superbowl run. Sam was disappointing, he’s not the kind of Qb (at this point) who can carry a team without a running game, or good WR’s vs a good defense. He’s still young and there’s more football to be played. I’m in the minority probably but I think Bell being hurt could help.
My motto this year is if we go down by 17, I'm only checking game updates via my phone. Today i went and chased my 17 month old around outside, which is infinitely more fun than watching the Jets play football.
A few points: The Good: - Punter MVP - Gase will be fired in 113 days time - Bills should have won 45-0. In their position I’d be concerned that the scoreline looked remotely respectable after dominating play and possession. The Bad: - Offseason optimism. We were always going to be shit. Beat writer training camp puff pieces are absolutely no indication of how Week 1 will play out. Stop overreacting to updates about how Pierre Desir has shut down David Fales. - Gase will be replaced in 113 days by a over-promoted DC looking for his first HC role. - For all the talk of the exploits of Jamal Adams and Robby Anderson today, the biggest kick in the nuts will be a successful Cowboys season. Mike “Massage” McCarthy was there for the taking if we wanted him as HC.
2016: 38-6 / 35-14 / 30-12 2017: 20-0 / 40-0 / 45-21 / 35-17 2018: 38-7 / 42-23 / 31-12 / 41-17 / 42-17 2019: 23-3 / 31-6 / 33-0 / 42-21 Those are the scores of 16 out of the 66 games Adam Gase has coached in the NFL. 16 losses of 17 points or more. That's 24% of the 66 games he's coached when his team has been uncompetitive. And look how many are much worse than 17 points. The list doesn't even include 3 other games he's lost by 16 points. Throw those in and you're around 30% of the time. And that doesn't even include games like today, that were blowouts on the field, but cosmetically close. Is there anyone on the planet who is delusional enough to think this man will ever be doused in champagne, hoisting the Lombardi Trophy?? This may literally be the dumbest hire in the history of the franchise.
The Bad (where do you begin) 1) The O-line. Allowed pocket to collapse often around Darnold causing hurried throws. Becton looked just okay, had one penalty, but why didn't they run behind him? 2) Darnold was hurried due to Buffalo rush, but the obvious comparison has to be made to what Allen did today. Quite clear the Jets chose the wrong QB three years ago. Allen looked tremendous. Yeah he made a few fumbles but more than made up for it with outstanding play. The really bad news is this guy is going to be another Brady in our division. It's only going to get worse. 3) Offense. Completely Ineffective. 4) D-line did not get any push against Bills O-line. Allen had weeks to throw the ball. Williams and Shepard big disappointments. Tackling was atrocious. 5) Coaching. Again team looked unprepared and unmotivated. Team looks like they're playing another tank season. 6) Punting. Was okay, but tell me why we got rid of Lac Edwards for this guy? Punt coverage also atrocious. The Good. 1) Kicking. Fickens made a FG and both XP's.
Sam Darnold will always be the QB that Jets fans say is better than the opposing QB while losing to and being outplayed by that same opposing QB lol smh Allen accounted for 370 total yards and 3 touchdowns and somehow he’s still a bad QB. If he’s bad than what’s Darnold? Outside of a missed tackle long TD catch and run and that garbage time drive Sam the Savior was atrocious.
anything short of banging your head in the fridge door or similar is more fun that watching the Jets play football
Allen fumbled twice and missed a wide open touchdown Helen Keller would have made. A win is a win, but don't get too far ahead of yourself.
it doesn't really make sense to say "the o-line was terrible, Darnold was under constant pressure, the coaching was terrible whereas Allen had all day to throw" and then say "Quite clear the Jets chose the wrong QB three years ago" - I mean this is the Jets, of course we chose the wrong QB (its all we ever do) but I doubt that anyone other than a star like Russel Wilson could play well on a team as totally devoid of talent as this team is - impossible to say what Darnold is or will be when there is literally nothing for him to work with also great to see that only 3 RBs in the NFL are getting paid more than Bell, great signing right there
He drafted Mims who is injured. The Jets need help in a LOT of areas. He didn't focus on any one area except offensive line. There is only so much a GM can do in one offseason. The Jets have a ways to go to build up talent.
Many of you were saying before the game that the Jets have one of the least talented teams in the league. So why is it a surprise when they stink? It's just one game so we can't judge the whole season based on one game.
The Bills were just as devoid of talent as the Jets 3 years ago when they chose Allen. Now compare how Darnold and Allen has affected each team. Allen has been sensational at QB propelling the Bills to respectability and beyond. Darnold still struggling.
Fans are emotional. A win today and there's at least one thread each about us winning the division, going 16-0, and being Super Bowl bound. That said, there's nothing wrong pointing out where there's room for improvement.
