They also had two pass rushers from this year's draft taken with less draft capital combined than our golden boy QB.

I went through my old tweets last night just to see how bad some of my Jonathan Taylor takes were (I thought he was Montee Ball part 2 solely because of Wisconsin) and ended up finding so many tweets that said "if we don't go Lamb in the first then we need to target Pittman in the second". Double kick in the dick.

It sucks Pittman was taken before us in r2 - same with Higgins.

I really think JD dropped the ball in that round by moving back and just completely misread the board. He absolutely thought Claypool or one of the other guys would be there at the pick we took Mims.

Exactly! He got our LT, #1 CB, a good pass rusher/player in Huff, our punter, and a very good slot CB. Did Mac ever have a draft that good? On top of that he had a GREAT draft this year. He got more contributing and starting players out of this draft than Mac got out of 2-3 of his drafts, maybe all of them. He's added a ton of players in FA and trades too.

Posters just want to vent. I've been there more than once. When venting, we're not being rational, thinking logically, or considering facts. Most are good posters and will calm down eventually when things get better. I get it. We're all sick of not just losing, but losing in an embarrassing fashion on national TV and not even being competitive.

    PFF needs a massive overhaul.

a lot of folks wanted Pittman because of the Darnold USC connection. But either way he was a talented kid with great bloodlines to the pros, sometimes drafting is not too difficult. These GMs think too much

GOOD grief yeah they do. PFF belongs in the trash bin

the only reason they rated Davis so high is because he led the team in tackles last night. But the whole idea behind analytics is that its supposed to cut past that. Anyone can read the box score. Davis' tackles were 20 yards down the field, that is a piss poor way of evaluating his performance

Exactly! I don't know what in the hell they look at, but they must be in a psychedelic mushroom-induced haze when they watch the games. Their ratings are an absolute joke, not even worthy of objective use or comparison.

EDIT I see you already knew that lol

For me with 20' draft, there's some really bad picks with the late picks paying dividends right now.

My question for 20' draft is how much was this done with that coaching staff in place and how much were they involved in the picks.

With the 21' draft and 22'' draft. I'm expecting stronger results with both GM and CS having their hands in agreeing the picks/players for scheme.

We need to be hitting outside the first round consistently and that's what I'm really looking for now.

That’s not his fault he’s playing 20 yards off the ball, that’s coaching. He still made the tackles, forced a fumble as well. Play him closer to help in run defense, maybe the defense won’t give up massive amount of yards on the ground.

PFF is made up statistical BS. But the reason Davis was rated so high is he led the team in tackles with 10 and had 2 forced fumbles.

Over the years you could have done much better than the Jets scouts and drafters just by throwing a dart at a board with the roughly appropriate players for the round.

I have no working theory on why the Jets talent evaluation and selection process is bad.

I guess I didn't watch Davis that closely but I did see one TD saving tackle in the open field on one of the backs.

Literally every single team in the entire league had to deal with COVID limitations. Tons of other teams still drafted lots of impact players. It's not a valid excuse whatsoever.

Becton and one of the UDFA are successes. Can't give up on Mims either. Not sure what's going on with him. He did so well last season.

    It defies the odds.
We've whiffed on so many players... and embarrassingly moved up to grab them.

Our draft history is putrid... Gholston, Lam Jones, Thomas, Vick, Hackenberg... the list of duds is seemingly endless.

Time to give the dart board a shot...
