    But this isn't Gase's fault.

    He wasn't on the field.
    Lack of talent
    Hard schedule
    Injuries
    Terrible OL
    Bad GM
    DC doesn't report to him
    QB might still have mono
    Sun was in his eyes

If there's one thing the Jets will lead the league in, its Excuses..

Matt if I watched 3 minutes of this game it was a lot. The loss does not shock me and a loss to the Dolphins will not shock me in fact I expect a loss.

I was shocked the Bengals were winless. Their coach must suck balls.

A team that is 0-10 gets penalized 2-15. Cmon refs, I smell a rat.

Now that's more like the Jets I know and love - I was starting to wonder what was up these last few weeks - phew - normal service has been resumed

You're right, you build in the trenches, but you don't do that by drafting 5 interior defensive linemen with your first round pick in 10 years. You don't use premium resources on a position you can fill with a late round pick or can poach from other teams.

Also, having the #1 run defense doesn't really matter, it doesn't correlate with wins.

I mean it's pretty important to stop the run. Let's not demean that aspect of the NFL.

But the whole #1 run defense is a litttttle bit skewed. Teams have passed at will against us pretty much all season. Our defense also faced a lot of short fields on the beginning of the year and as a result didn't have to give up a lot of yards to give up scores.

I think it's important to be league average at it, there really isn't much difference between that and elite. It's not predictable over the course a season and definitely doesn't indicate a good defense or wins. Just like you said, teams don't need to run the ball on the Jets because they can't stop the pass. The Jets being the #1 rush defense means nothing.

Fair enough. And you're right. You can be league average when stopping the run. The better teams usually stop the teams really well though. The only way you can combat having a horrible run defense (Chiefs, Packers) is to have a great quarterback.

Even still, the Chiefs are going to struggle in the playoffs if they don't get it corrected. The Titans are a nightmare of a matchup for them in round one.

I think the Titans are a tough matchup for anyone. They play solid defense, pound the rock, and don’t turn the ball over. Plus, Tannehill is playing very well for them.
