Minkah Fitzpatrick ends it for the Steelers. He has 5 interceptions, 2 fumble recoveries, and 2 touchdowns since he went to Pittsburgh.
If Garrett was responsible for telling the punt returner to not try to return the ball he deserves to be fired for that alone. With 17 seconds left a big punt return is by far the most likely way to score a touchdown, and he had at least 10 yards clear to run.
And now they call dink and dunk plays to set up only one Hail Mary opportunity with 3 seconds left, rather than try more than once. Ridiculous.
My relatives in Philly are very happy tonight - their team is tied atop the NFC East, the Giants (who they hate) lost, and two rivals for the wild card (Rams and Panthers) also lost. Rooting hard for them next week.
The Cowboys blew that game. They shouldn't have ran Zeke that many times on the drive in the redzone, I think they wanted to play the clock game, but the priority is to score. Then on the punt return, Austin was probably instructed no to return it, but from the looks of it, he might have been able to have a huge return or at least put them in reasonable distance. Then of course with 17 seconds left, they go for dink and dunks to gain a few more yards rather than go for multiple hail marys.
Terrible game management shows why Jason Garrett is Mr. 8-8. They thought way too much of trying to kill the clock than they did that trying to score. Not to mention that once it gets under 2 minutes, you are facing Cousins out of his element because they have limited opportunities to run and less play action roll out chances. Which is really where he carved up defenses. He's not a really good shotgun, three-four wide receiver passer and they're pretty full at receiver after Thielen (who was out anyways) and Diggs. I also couldn't believe how many friggain screens they kept throwing at the Cowboys. With those two linebackers (Smith + Vander Each + even Lee) they should've manned up Cook rather than shelling back in a two deep zone all game long. And also, give Zeke some friggain tosses. Run him with a pulling guards somewhere. Everytime the Cowboys stopped Dalvin Cook they started tossing him the ball and he made plays. Garrett needs to go and I don't think Kellen Moore or Kris Richard are the world's greatest coaches yet like everyone thought they were two weeks into the season.
I'm watching and I literally have no idea what is defensive holding, pass interference, etc. Honestly I am not familiar with the intricacies and minutiae of the modern game, I leave that to the refs and professionals, but it seems like the same shit happens on every play, and sometimes they call it, and sometimes they don't. So far they only call it on Seattle, though.
It's amazing to me that Dante Pettis still gets as many snaps as he does. I know they're not loaded at receiver but everytime I see the 49ers play he's dropping balls or nowhere near open.
Jimmy Garroppolo is the most glorified game manager in the game today. I've never seen a quarterback who instantly starts his happy feet as soon as he hits the back of his drop back like him.
