He got half his sacks against powerhouses North Texas (4 sacks) and UTEP (3.5).

I just love it when posters who haven't followed college football or draft prospects come in the draft thread and make ignorant comments.

    You ain't lying brother.
We picked up the consensus best player in the draft AND an edge rusher and everyone is bitching. The drama around here is hysterical sometimes.

"Winning is the Bottom Line"--True That 100Xs

The problem with most of the Armchair GMs on TGG is that they think they are playing Madden NFL

Sorry to burst your bubble, but given how many premium picks Macc took on "D" for them to have a "weak D last year" is inexcusable and why some of us don't have any faith in him. As for "stabalizing" he Safety position, Adams sure, but Maye's been hurt.

And at the risk of hearing "20-20 hindsight" and "beating a dead horse", I'll call your attention to how Macc fucked up by passing on Mahomes which put him in the position of not only not having a potential HOF QB, but losing premium draft picks he had to burn to move up to have a chance of drafting a FQB, and also not being able to use last year's #1 and two #2s on other holes.

We ARE a better team than 2-3 years ago, but shouldn't that be a given? And based upon record we're not much better.

And at this point, "focusing on "O" for the rest of the draft isn't going to mean much. As usual, the offense is an afterthought, despite this being an offensive league. Finding any "O" players that will make an impact will be a fluke, like Herndon was.

Macc is a mediocre - at best - GM, and the Jets need someone who's above average.

And Jason Taylor got most of his against MAC schools. Regardless of the school ballers can ball.

Waiting on our second 3rd round pick (we just grabbed Polite off the edge).

Nows the time to move onto Oline UNLESS there's a high potential DB still on their board. Our backfield is a mess at the DB position. Without a strong backfield, the Quinnen and Polite picks will be less impactful. If Macc can shore up our DBs, our defense will be unstoppable.

Outside that one position, it's time for the o-line.

Nailed it! We need better. Too many swings and misses on Mac's draft record especially in these very rounds. No wonder many are skeptical when Mac reaches, his history more times than not say's it a whiff.

Any Centers left? It would be nice to protect Sam. Guess not.

Vernon Gholston had 14 sacks his senior year and 3 of them were beating Jake Long when they played Michigan in the biggest game of the year. Stats can be deceiving.

    You know what's even better?

Posters who claim other posters don't follow college football when they know absolutely nothing about said posters other than reading posts made on a forum by those posters.

But what the fuck do I know? I'm just an ignorant poster with zero college football knowledge who likes posting ignorant comments on the draft thread about prospects I know nothing about

Connor McGovern and Lamont Gaillard, but both are projects. If we don't a decent camp cut, Sam is gonna be roadkill.

It's amazing how everyone can justify focusing on defense and ignoring offense in a league driven by offense. Do you think it's just a coincidence that the Jets long championship drought coincides with their belief that :"defense wins championships"? If they put half the focus on offense as they have on defense they would greatly improve their chances of getting to a SB.

Unlike Gholston, Ferguson was not a one hit wonder. He broke Terrell Suggs all-time sacks record with 45 career sacks. Nothing flukish about his stats unlike Vernon. Just proven production every year.

Yeah, that is my worry. Hope they find a way to upgrade. Especially center.

I think the Jets HAVE to get McGovern or one of the other top OL here.

Winovich had similiar pass rushing stats, and better overall stats, is bigger, more versatile, and ran considerably faster (4.59 vs 4.84) + had good 3 cone, shuttle, etc.. and is an ultra high character guy who showed up in shape at the combine and killed it...

The only thing Polite had in his favor is that he filled one or more of Mac’s requirements for selections after the 1st round:

    Dreadlocks
    Injury history
    Played for a small school
    1a Plays D-line
    1b Plays defense
    Oldest player in the draft
