It's getting kind of annoying how many times I'm seeing headlines describing the Jets as "desperate" to trade down. They're in the catbird seat, you mediots. Mac has created a feeding frenzy.
love it the only reason the raiders would do that is for a QB which wouldn't change anything for us at all. and we'd likely get an extra 3rd or 2nd rounder to free. not only that but if it is for a QB we would be able to slide back again with the bills for Q assuming he didn't go (murray, bosa, haskins) for even more picks. mac is gonna get back everything we gave for darnold hopefully
if the jets don't like allen i can't see that happening. if we aren't taking allen they have no need to swap with us. they only reason they would swap is for a player the jets don't want and that no team will jump them for which has to be a QB
but the raiders don't know we do not like allen so u can flip spots and get an extra pick AND select your guy at 4 instead of 3. of course that's IF they don't want to go QB. if they go QB - that could be communicated to the jets and the price tag could go slightly higher.
they know. if we like allen we wouldn't trade the pick. you can't hide that lol. nobody moves down 1 spot to let the team they traded with, take the player they want. most of the time when deals like that are made, it's contingent on the team trading up not taking a certain player.
If I'm Sam Darnold, and the Jets trade with Buffalo so they can draft Quinnen Williams to terrorize me twice a year for the next ten years, I'm waiting for Maccagnan in the parking lot with a lead pipe. Just sayin'. NO FUCKING WAY.
I could easily be wrong. If so, I'll eat crow. As a former poster used to frequently say, "We're all just guessing." I'm not saying that he will bust, just saying that I don't see that he's that safe, and certainly not safer than Allen. If the Jets draft him, I'll hope that I'm very wrong. Admittedly, I'm biased against him because he's a DT and we've drafted too many DTs who were supposed to be Tigers and they wound up being pussy cats. I'm also biased against him because the Jets have needed an elite edge rusher for 13 years, and now when they have a great opportunity to get one, they seem disinterested. Finally, I intensely dislike Alabama, so almost never want the Jets to draft one of their players.
The trade up by the Raiders intrigues me. The only reason to do that is to stop the Jets from trading down, thus allowing someone to leapfrog and get the pick they want. The pick has to be a QB, no other choice makes sense to me. Assume they want Q or Allen instead, why would they do it? They know that if the Jets trade the pick neither one of them is that precious to stay pat, and I don't believe any other team would want to move all the way up to 3 for either one of them. So the battle is about QB and QB only. Which is awesome for us. If we trade one spot, we still get either one of those players we want in the first place and gain a second rounder. Seems perfect. But what the hell do I know.
I would absolutely love this, especially if somehow both Bosa and Allen fell to 3. Move down a slot and still get their guy, Josh Allen, and also get a 2nd round pick. This type of thing has happened in the past. It's a defensive maneuver.
