If I’m JT’s my concern is that Snow simply isn’t capable of building a winning team. Snow has made plenty of moves but they simply haven’t resulted in a winning team.

Yep------I think if they had showed any commitment he would have stayed and for less money,,,,,but Snow is incompetent and still here and the new owners are now the old owners its been a while they had a chance and they are blowing it big time

I guess Snow has the owners sold on the possibility of the 4 draft picks he has in June.

2 first rounders and 2 second rounders, they probably want to keep the team as is and add some forwards though draft just in case they can't sign JT. That's the only thing I can think of as to why he made no big trades.

Read an article on Lighthouse.com, Snow was quoted saying "he felt the Isles could win with existing group of guys if they learned to play together"

How long has this man been in the NHL?

He should know it's about talent and not just hard work. If that's the case, bring back Randy Wood, he was one of the hardest working players Isles had.

Snow should realize that the team he put together is not physical or talented enough to make playoffs.

I think that's the most frustrating part, Barzal, Lee, and JT are the only true big time players they have, the equivalent of one line in the NHL is never going to elevate the team to the playoffs.

Ho-sang was demoted because he was playing undisciplined hockey, its funny how the team has spiraled without Ho-sang, he can't be used as an excuse as to why the team stinks on the PP, or continues to give up leads.

He should be called up and allowed to play and see if he can add one more skilled player that can make a final push for the WC.

Another lifeless loss. Another day Garth keeps his job. Just another day in Islander land.

New York Islanders: Letting George McPhee Walk Was A Huge Mistake
    [IMG]by Matt O'Leary
The New York Islanders missing out on making George McPhee their General Manager was a huge mistake, and something that’ll haunt them for a while.

Garth Snow has been on the job for 12 years with very little to show for. Of course, New York Islanders fans have been calling for his head for years and rightfully so. Unfortunately, the Islanders had the perfect replacement for Garth working for them and let him get away.

After being fired by the Washington Capitals in 2014, George McPhee was added to the Islanders staff as a special advisor to the General Manager and the Vice President in September of 2015.

McPhee stayed with the organization for just 10 months before taking over as the Vegas Golden Knight’s G.M. McPhee has done wonderful things with Vegas in their first year in existence.

He has his team, in their first year of existence, tied for the Western Conference lead in points. No expansion team has ever been this good this quick but McPhee has hit all the right buttons for Vegas.

McPhee essentially drafted a team of nobodies. In the Expansion Draft last June, he had the opportunity to choose a player who was left exposed. Most of these players weren’t and still really aren’t “Franchise building blocks”.

Yet, McPhee has this group of misfits who nobody wanted with the best record in the West. Marc-Andre Fleury is the highest paid player on the team and he only makes $5.75 million.

If George Mcphee could build a team this successful, this quick, while on a budget I’m quite certain he would do a better job than Garth Snow has.

Think about how embarrassing this is. Over the last six years, John Tavares only cost the Islanders $5.5 million against the cap. Over that time Garth built a team that was able to move on past the first round once.

Snow’s Islanders have been boringly mediocre, and he continues to build teams with limited ceilings. Where the Islanders are now, this year has been essentially the same place they’ve been for years.

The Islanders are a fringe playoff team. That’s what Snow can build. In just a years time, with a freaking expansion franchise, George McPhee proved that he can build a contender. If the Islanders were smart, which is saying something, they would’ve hired McPhee to replace Snow as G.M. as soon as he was let go from Washington.

The fact that the Islanders had the clear replacement in front of them this entire time while they continue to trot out Garth Snow built teams is maddening. That’s an indictment of ownership. The fans deserve better.

Personally I would like to add that the HC that Vegas hired is superior to Weight and has also made a huge difference.

The “what if’s” are only going to get worse when JT goes to the Leafs, the only team I hate more than then Pens, and wins 4 straight Cups.

For longtime Isles fans like me the retirement from TV of The Hockey Maven is bittersweet. He is strongly associated with the Cup years for me, along with Eddie (Westfall) and Jiggs (McDonald). I actually got a chance to talk with him a couple of times, and he really did know as much about hockey as it seemed. Good luck and godspeed, Stan!

The DRIVE 4 FIVE seems like it should be written in aramaic at this point.....
but as a kid it was a fun time!

In recent times.....Every year (first month of the seaon) my brother calls raving how the isles are kicking ass.... "Yeah yeah yeah.... get back to me in 2 months" (even made it part of my "worst man" speech) and he wonders why I've lost my stoke.
Granted, It's easy to ignore hockey living in NE FL...esp when the isles are a perrennially a rusty hamster wheel, but this shit is why.....*

*Somewhere rolled up in a tube are Bryan Trottier and Billy Smith posters ;)
