If it doesn’t work out for Lambert it won’t be because Reirden was terrible. I think this points to a desire to keep a similar defensive structure that they players have excelled in but that Lambert is more aware of the offensive changes that are required whereas Trotz was likely inflexible in the system he wanted to run.

I asked this question in a baseball forum but this is a better place. For those of you that were hockey fans prior to 1972, who did you root for before the Islelanders we're a hockey team?
If they were hockey fans, people on LI rooted for the Rangers. Lot of players lived in Long Beach and other places on the south shore.

Trotz informed the Winnipeg Jets of his decision today and intends on continuing to focus on family. Maybe Lou knew something all along about Trotz’s long-term plans. Now hopefully he knows a few players with some speed.
Sounds like family issues forced Trotz to leave the Isles. Maybe Lou did him a favor by "firing" him so he could handle family issues.
Big news for a former Islander - Roberto Luongo has been named to the Hall of Fame. Somehow I don't see this being celebrated in Elmont all that much. Thanks for your stupidity, Mike Milbury.
