I don't want to call tonight's game against the Sabres a must win but it is close. Need to rebound from the Pitt losses. They should have won Saturday night but as usual an inability to put the puck in the net hurts them again. This division is strong so the Isles need the two points to keep up with the pack.
Nice game-winning PP goal for Pageau, but every game is the same - count on great goaltending, and pray for (barely) enough goals. This is not a team that I see having a real chance of getting to the Finals, let alone winning them. Of course, maybe our earlier pining for Panarin wasn't going to work out either ...
The shame is it isn’t an issue of good shots not being there, they simply miss on opportunities nearly every other team converts.
Big win tonight. 7-2 over the Bruins. 3-0 against Boston this year. Isles have given the B's 3 of their 4 regulation losses.
Winning in OT won’t be good enough. They’ve got to stop giving the Penguins points. We’ve got to win this in regulation.
Yet another failure against the Pens. Funny how the performances against the two black-and-gold teams are polar opposites of each other.
Sorokin shutout; Wahlstrom game winner. Should be good times if that’s what we have to come for the future.
I know Trotz has Varlamov as his #1 but he needs to play Sorokin more than once every two weeks. Back to back shutouts for him. Big win over Pitt tonight. I thought the Isles should have beaten them last night and last Saturday. Also that PPG by Wahlstrom was nice. That was a great shot. We need highly skilled forwards in our top 6 and Ollie looks like he could be one of them.
We should have beaten them the last three times we’ve played them. Wahlstrom has played well all season so it’s good to finally see it reflected on the stat sheet.
Questionable officiating costs Varly the shutout but thankfully not the game. And Lou looks smarter every time you say Wahlstrom game winner.
Feeling slightly better about Lou, but still having trouble seeing the team win the division playoffs and getting to the final four. Of course, the truly bizarre thing this year is that once the final four teams are set, there will be literally zero information about comparing them, since not only won't they have played each other all season, they won't have even had a single common opponent.
Weird schedule coming up. Thursday - Sabres at Isles Saturday - Sabres at Isles Sunday - Sabres at Isles Its hard to beat a team three straight times but the Isles will be heavy favorites in all three games. This is a good chance for the Isles to get at least 4 (minimum) or more points. Anything less than 4 points would be disappointing as the Sabres really do suck.
