The lineup badly needs lefty power with Didi out for a while and he would bring in a ton of $$$ by with marketability alone.

 

Joel Sherman of the New Yost Post reports that the Yankees and Luis Severino have agreed to a four-year, $40 million contract extension with a $15 million club option for 2023.

That is a really good deal by the Yankees for Severino. Nice to have him locked up!

 

Im Pirates first Yanks a far second but im counting on the pinstripes putting cheatertown in its place this coming season!

On a side note, Harper is about to become the highest paid player in MLB history. I can't believe GMs give people 10 year deals now. To me, that is ridiculous.

 

The idea is to get great production on the front end of a long term deal to make the last few years bearable. For a 10 year deal to a 26 year old FA, it's about 5 great years, 3 good years, and 2 declining years. A-Rod's first 10 year deal was great, so was Jeter's. A-Rod's second 10 year deal was a mixed bag. The Yanks don't win in '09 without him, but he did have the Biogenesis debacle earlier this decade and age caught up to him by the latter stages of the 2015 season.

 

Aaron Hicks just signed for seven years and seventy million. Can you imagine what Judge is going to haul off?

Not happening. He's represented by Scott Boras and wants a five- or six-year deal. He's already on the decline, so a long-term contract for him would be a real sucker bet. Gio Gonzalez is more likely.

 

Boras was also Johnny Damon's agent. He was the first to get royally screwed and he won't be the last

 

Sevy out until May at the earliest according to Cashman. Keuchel? Bueller?

The 1B job was Voit's to lose, but with hicks out, the depth is being tested before the season starts.

 

Not a fan of Bird, team is carrying some dead weight, Ellsbury, Bird, Gardner, CC

 

Clint Frazier sent down, very disappointing, another year of pop gun Gardner

 

Clint wasn't exactly hitting though. Looked rusty to me. Let him shake it off and come back up when he's ready.
