My first ever Jets game was against the defending SB Champ Steelers at Shea in '77. Lou Piccone had a punt return TD called back that could've been the winning TD. In those days I couldn't go back to the video tape or see a replay to see how bad the holding/ clipping was, but it provided excitement none the less. Even though they played well against the champion Steelers, it was still my first Jets home loss.
Lou ran a punt return back 60 yds for a TD vs Tampa at Shea in 1976 and I almost fell out of the upper deck
That Namath fur coat picture is the Jets Mandela Effect moment Joe Namath wearing a fur coat on the sidelines with the price tag still on it He never wore it with the price tag. It was the field pass
I'm sure I won't do this right because I'm too stupid, but it's Post #319. http://forums.theganggreen.com/threads/2017-nfl-countdown-to-kickoff.88622/page-16#post-3585635
Coleman intercepted Fielder and then fumbled it away. AGITA. Then a few plays later, he intercepted the ball again. Amazing game. Oh, why not . . . Miami, the true pukes of the AFCE, that electrifying 51-45 game in '86, I've mentioned this a ton of times before but it bears repeating. My friend who ran our most excellent and now kaput defunct tailgate (thanks, Woody) brought his wife to that game. She rarely went to games not because she hated the Jets or football in general, she was just ambivalent, neutrally disinterested leaning slightly towards just not caring about it at all. That aside, she was witnessing one of what is easily one of the top ten best regular season games in Jets history. Without about 4 minutes left in the game, she turns to my friend and goes, "We should leave. There's nothing go on here." She was completely serious. We still crack up about it all these years later.
I know Bruce Harper has already been done, but I almost always post this photo. It's one my favorites of him. It's so old school. I forgive him the rare deathblows /heart breakers because the good far, far, far outweighed the bad. He's a very nice man, too. Met him a couple of times. I posted last year that I could've sworn that I read somewhere that he had a very serious near fatal heart attack. He did, but he's doing very well now and recovered nicely. https://www.medtronic.com/au-en/about/patient-stories/bruce-sudden-cardiac-arrest.html Cardiomyopathy.
