Giancarlo Stanton to Yanks virtually done....Castro and 2 medium prospect? 59 homers and 132 ribbies last year
http://riveraveblues.com Reports: Yanks and Marlins have a deal for Giancarlo Stanton December 8, 2017 by Mike Axisa 5182 Comments Weekend Open Thread That poor baseball. (Mark Brown/Getty) Saturday: The Yankees and Marlins have a deal for Stanton, reports Heyman. Sherman says the Marlins will get “at least” Castro plus “good but not top prospects” in the trade. I wonder if that “at least” part means another veteran with a pricey contract (Chase Headley?) could be involved? I guess we’ll find out soon enough. I’ll have more on the trade in a bit. Friday: The Yankees and Marlins are discussing a Giancarlo Stanton trade, according to multiple reports. Stanton used his no-trade clause to block deals to the Giants and Cardinals the teams announced earlier today, which apparently prompted the Yankees to get involved. Here’s what we know so far: Stanton will accept a trade to the Yankees. Apparently his four-team approved list is the Yankees, Dodgers, Cubs, and Astros. [Ken Rosenthal] Momentum for a trade is “significant” and talks have reached an “advanced stage.” The Dodgers are still in the mix, however. [Jeff Passan, Jon Morosi] The Yankees would not be sending any of their top prospects to the Marlins. The Yankees have a loaded farm system, so even their non-top prospects are pretty good. [Jon Heyman] Starlin Castro‘s name has come up in trade talks. That would help offset Stanton’s massive salary somewhat. [Morosi] Jacoby Ellsbury has not been asked to waive his no-trade clause, since I know you’re all wondering whether he’s part of the trade. [Mark Feinsand] The Marlins are “actively trying” to get a deal done with the Yankees, though it’s unclear if it’ll get done tonight, if at all. [Joe Frisaro] The Yankees are likely to keep Brett Gardner. They’re trying to dump Ellsbury on the Marlins though. [JonHeyman] Stanton to the Yankees is “close if not done,” which, uh, sounds amazing. [Hank Schulman] Things have a way of coming together very quick with the Yankees, so stay tuned. They’ll have to get a little creative to add Stanton and stay under the luxury tax threshold. .
Wow! Things change quickly in sports. In an 8-month period the Yankees have went from a young building team, to a surprise Young Gun team 1 win from the World Series, to now a Power House Bronx Bombing team who could potentially be starting another Dynasty!
I'm speechless. I almost feel like I'm missing something, there has to be more. Castro + a couple of A-ball prospects!? Fuckmothering hell, Cashman strikes again. Not sure who plays 2B for now. Long-term either Gleyber or Didi slides over I guess.
BREAKING: The Red Sox have reconstructed the Green Monster after hearing the Yankees acquired Giancarlo Stanton. .
If the Yankees don't trade him, he'll start the season in AAA because he needs to play. If there's an injury or Gardner/Hicks struggles he'll get called up to play left or center.
My guess is that either Wade or Torreyes starts at 2b until Torres is ready and Andujar starts at 3b.
