Didi is so awesome. He's so cool in these pressure situations. Couldn't have asked for a better replacement for Jeter. My only problem with him is how few pitches he sees and as a result he rarely walks. I believe he only walked like 18 times a couple years ago. You can live with it when he does stuff like that though! Otherwise he'd be the perfect 2 hitter. I like him in the 3-hole though. Not a big fan of Judge hitting second. We need to make Kluber throw a lot of pitches which is why the Gardner bunt on the first pitch was sort of dumb. He looks on point tonight. Need to get him to 100 pitches by the 5th/6th in a perfect world. Good at bat by Hicks. That's what we need. That's a frustrating walk for a pitcher.
I'd go Gardner-Hicks-Didi-Sanchez-Judge-Bird-Frazier-Castro-Ellsbury. I also would look to pinch hit Holliday today. He's been here before. Hicks offers so much more in the 2 hole like moving runners up, bunting, seeing pitches, etc. Judge is a strange two hitter and strikes out way too much for my liking there. Also adds a lot more length to the lineup this way.
That strikeout was the perfect opportunity to bunt Gardner over if Hicks was hitting there in the 2 hole if the lineup was correctly constructed. But let's fucking go Didi!!!!!!!!!
Even if Kluber shuts us down the next couple innings, no way he faces Didi again right? CC dealing. I really hope Joe doesn't fuck up the bullpen management late in this game. Betances shouldn't come close to pitching in this game. Kluber is dominating too other than those two pitches. We get to experience what the Packers did going from Favre to Rodgers and Colts from Peyton to Luck with our Jeter to Didi combination. Pretty awesome. I'd imagine if Kluber faces Didi he stays away from him. If they don't go to Andrew Miller there. They did have him up already after that second homerun.
Glad the Cy Young award winner is out of the game. But that's an awfully quick hook with only what 68 pitches? He could've stayed with him another inning. At least another batter. Miller has now warmed up twice in two innings. And pitches to one hitter before sitting down again. Dudes gonna get coooold.
IDK why they pulled him...wow... I ain't bitchin! oan, Wide zone tonight for both teams but still pissed with that game one ump.
Got a nice call on that last strikeout. Sanchez framed it nicely but it broke off the plate out of the strikeout. They just got that call back against Judge anyways. Great atbat against Miller for Gardner. Get that pitch count up. Please don't have a quick hook on CC, Joe. I beg of you. Didi 3 for 3!!
Fuck. Needed to get CC out a batter earlier than he left him in. I don't blame Joe for that one though. Robertson wasn't ready. I'm comfortable with him in this situation. Knock on wood...
Amazing how it seemed like money held them back from signing him. Money never holds the Yankees back. He was definitely a better middle reliever and 8th inning guy than he was a closer. And then they give Chapman the most lucrative closer contract ever... Chapman worries me in this game. Raja Davis, the guy that hit that homer off him in last years World Series, isn't on the team anymore, but still.
