I'm not going to stop until you answer my question. That's one long winded run on sentence, my friend. Y u no like periods?
Who needs an O-line once you have the Refs on your side???? Remember when Tommy boy was young, and the Pats had a great O-line and a great defense? Those are things that need to be in place to develop a QB. Once he's a star, the NFL will make sure the responsibilities of those groups are properly delegated to the zebras.
Monster you have to give them props, yes Brady is Brady but that was not the refs scoring a bunch of rushing tds it was Blount
A trade down to the 10-12 area would be the most reasonable spot value wise...that said..would it be a terrible reach to take him at 6?No. He's a rare 2 way TE at a position the Jets have next to nothing at.Current NFL landscape lends quite favorably to the TE position if he can attack the seam(Howard can) & he can stay healthy..we'll see. He'd help both the passing & blocking game. He's clutch...he appears to be somewhat of a leader..he'd open things up for those young WRs on the outside. Unless an OT really steps up at combine(ala Robinson) ,Fournette shows Catching ability beyond our expectations or Trubisky slips/Jets pounce...OJ Howard looks like the best bet. Maybe 10 years ago trying top rebuild an offense at Te would be a foolish bet..but I'm not so sure about that anymore. There aren't alot of elite bodies at the position despite the fact that defenses of today really have no answer for these guys down the seam.
Thanks. Actually, I didn't forget him. NFL.com has him listed as a tackle. That's why I didn't include him. Wikipedia lists him as an OG, but I couldn't remember for certain, and I trust NFL.com more than Wikipedia. I saw one source that had him listed as a G/T, but I focused only on players I knew were definitely OGs.
Can't argue with that, brother. I've had to give Blount begrudging props since his college days-- I don't like the guy, but on the field, he's exactly what I always want in a RB. Give me an Earl Campbell or a John Riggins over an Eric Dickerson or a Chris Johnson any day.
I understand why you prefer a Campbell or Riggins type, but not me. Give me an elusive, fast RB who can score from anywhere on the field at any time. Those are the types that keep opposing DCs up nights. A Campbell or Riggins type is gonna get his yards, but you don't generally have to worry about him breaking off a long scoring run, and between the 20s, I think you have a better chance of stopping them. The other thing is the Campbell types wear down and have shorter careers because of all the hits they take. I was at grad school at SMU when Dickerson and Craig James were there. It was awesome. I then followed Dickerson' career in the NFL closely.
