Kansas with a big loss. If they won the big 12 they probably would have been the 1st overall seed but now probably not. I'm also psyched to see unc vs duke tonight
cryin boeheim spends his post game news conference ripping on the City of Greensboro, NC and so when they end up in the NIT they give him UNC-Greensboro in the first round.. LOL
Wichita State gets screwed by the committee every year. Kansas getting a #1 is particularly egregious because conference tournaments are supposed to matter. KU not only failed to win a game, but they lost to TCU. The committee obviously had a very low opinion of TCU because they weren't even considered despite beating a so called #1 seed. That's a very bad loss in what was the last look at Kansas pre-NCAA tournament. TCU, after beating Kansas, lost their very next game by 21 points to Iowa State.
their seedings are so whack. Wichita State you mention. I also can't believe Vanderbilt is a 9 seed. 19-15 gets you a 9 seed?
Minnesota got a 5 and Wisconsin got an 8 Obviously they're in the same conference (making comparisons easier) and Wisconsin was clearly a better team. Better conference record, better overall record, much better point differential. Wisconsin also was 2-0 against Minnesota, winning at home and at Minnesota. So setting aside where they fit in the seedings overall, how is Minnesota 3 seed lines above Wisconsin when they were an inferior team?
Wichita State was definitely under seeded at #10 but at the same time even though Dayton won the Atlantic-10 regular season Rhode Island's the most dangerous A-10 team right now. Vandy's over seeded as well. And while the Big East has 70% of their conference going into the tournament, Creighton and Xavier are limping into it. Villanova has some tough sledding ahead of them. Second round they have to play a Wisconsin team that beat #5-seeded Minnesota 2x this year and the last time by 17 points. Plus #2 Duke's playing lights out right now. Bottom line, you have to win 6 in a row against good teams. So it takes a great team, great playing and a lot of luck.
you don't necessarily have to win 6 in a row against good teams. Favorable seeding means you can face teams that are not very good. #10 Wichita State is favored by 6 over #7 Dayton because the #10 should've been a #4 and the #7 should've been a #9. Speaking of which, I'm posting a vbetting event. Team to win the tournament. http://forums.theganggreen.com/sportsbook/2017-ncaa-tournament.104/
My "Wichita State under seeded" and "although UD won regular season, URI's now the most dangerous A-10" was pretty much saying the same thing. Nobody that is until one of these "who cares?" teams pull off a Butler-type run, part of what makes the tourney fun esp. the 1st week potential David-beats-Goliath upsets. So Colin Cowchips is hanging his "tv ratings" hat squarely on the bigs playing conference finals? Well what does he have to say about college basketball's regular season having been watered down to inter-conference cannibalism? Example: ESPN promo scenario: - Feb. 8: "Duke at Carolina with 1st place in the ACC at stake!" - Feb. 23: "Carolina at Duke with 1st place in the ACC at stake!" - March 11: "Duke and Carolina square off with the ACC tourney title at stake!" - Next day: March madness selection show: duke and unc shoo-ins to go to the dance anyway. So, let's whittle the NCAA tournament down to 16 teams so the b-ball elites need not deign to play the unwashed mid-majors. Sounds like you've gone from the days of "Jay Wright ought to be fired!" to "we ought to limit these post-season junkets to junc, myself and like-minded elites." . : ) "Thurston, who arrrre these people?" "obviously not dear alma mater lovey, probably one of those big east schools they let in.." "do you mean catholics?!!!....oh dear Thurston!!!"
joe - rhody has the most talent of all the A10 teams and they are playing with momentum lately but I have a hard time trusting them as they usually choke. dayton is more clutch, senior laden, and better coached. That's why the Wichita State matchup is a disappointing first round matchup because I feel the same way about them. and there's not a bigger pompous hack in the industry than colin cowturd
And if that happens, the ratings for the Final Four will go down the toilet, just like it has with every Gonzaga or Wichita State run. But EVERYONE cares anyway, right?
That's a downright fallacy and you should apologize to me if you have a shred of class. I never said they should not be invited to the tournament, nor do I consider myself an elitist. All I said is that you are overestimating the amount of interest these teams generate when they have a deep run into the tournament.
I never said I had any class and I demand an apology. "Thurston, what's Hack's fuckin' problem?" "I dunno lovey..seems these big east catholics are quick to go over the edge." "well whatever.....but I would love to fuck that Jenkins boy over there, that #2..."
