Still waiting on Patrick Ewing to be the coach of the Knicks just tallying up the years as a assistant
I wouldn't be pining for that. He's the Emmitt Smith of the NBA, a great player who is also borderline retarded.
Ya I can imagine it but you won't know until he has had a chance. Mark Jackson would've been nice as well. After his 3rd coach I feel Phil Jackson is making his way on out of here. The setup at the Lakers sounds like his dream with Luke Walton as the coach
Hornacek officially brought in today. I always liked him. Good man. Good luck to him. Too bad he's saddled with those two schmucks above him....
I thought Grant had some promise, but I guess the Knicks are going to sign Dwight Howard as well. Reminds me of when they got Stephon Marbury / Steve Francis. Trades are like 5 years too late.
I would be possed if they went and got Dwight. That means Melo is playing the 3 and KP is at 4. KP flourished when he got to play at the 5
I don't think KP would be good at the 5 full-time. They need another rim protector and you don't want KP getting beat up in the post all day. They should go after Noah or Gasol. Sure start KP at the 5, but you need to bring in that other big man to play big minutes.
Oh for sure. Totally on board with that. Let's just hope it isn't Dwight. That guy is a bonified loser
As a Magic fan, you do not want Dwight Howard, in his 10 years in the league, the guy still can't hit a hook shot and his athleticism is on a full decline. Noah would be great for you guys. But hey, Westbrook could be a Knick that's what I see out of it. Rose on a 1 yr deal.
If this was a couple years ago the thought of Melo/Rose/Howard being on the knicks would have been too much for my heart to take. Different story now. What is he going to play for us, 12 games? IDK Maybe a new scenery will bring good health karma, and do him good performance wise? What I know for sure is that I want no part in Dwight Howard.
This is the kind of trade Isiah would've made. No one would take Rose. He's a disaster and is making the money a star would make. Will be interesting to see how the NY media reacts to his refusing to play 20+ games a season despite being healthy.
Tough to see how one can view this as a bad deal. It was a salary dump as much of anything for the Knicks, taking Lopez's contract off the books for next offseason when Blake Griffin, Westbrook, Curry, Jeff Teague, and some mid-level guys are free agents. It's basically a flyer more than anything, and an attempt at being a lure for free agents this off season to team up with Melo, Porzingis and a former MVP. They still have a little under $30 million to spend this offseason with no long term commitments for any players on the roster outside of Melo/Porzingis. Not sure if you're a Knicks fan, but this is the type of deal only a Knicks fan would be discouraged by.
Being a Knick fan the last 20 ish years is sort of like being Jets fan where you know the stupid is coming. The deal in and of its self isn't really a problem. The Lopez contract could have become a albatross based on his play last season; Knicks overpaid him anyway. As a Knick fan what I'm worried about is Rose managing to get through the season with solid play. With the result being that the Knicks turn around and offer him some silly money. Then of course he'd promptly tear his ACL slipping in the bathroom or some such shit.
