Every team in the league with even the slightest hint of a need at QB should have taken Teddy. OBJ is going to be a great one, but QB is worth geometrically more than WR. But yeah, those two on Cleveland would have been franchise saving. Having said that, Teddy is going to benefit massively over the next decade plus (starting next year) playing at least 9 games a year in a dome. He might have tougher time in the AFC North. _
I'm seeing Santana tonite but I'm DVRing Mariota so I'll watch tomorrow after work and before Winston. _
Same thing happened with Bortles last season, when he tore apart back ups. I foolishy fell victim to his performance against crappy back ups in meaningless pre season games. Mettenberger's the same QB who held back an offense with Lae'l Collins, Jermey Hill, Jarvis Landy, and he missed Odell Beckham a ton at LSU.
Only preseason, but with the exception of one typical rookie mistake ,Mariota was very impressive under center (I don't know why anyone thought this would be a problem ), climbed the pocket well, with fairly good movement, and he didn't bail against pressure when Greg Williams brought the house .
He's better than Geno, more ready than Petty and has more long term potential than Fitz. If we can at least get him into the room I think it improves the team.
I'd rather have him than Geno but how many backup QBs are we gonna collect. He can't read defenses. BigSnacks post is on point, if he was really a good QB he would have exploded at LSU with Hill, Beckham Jr., and Landry. He's got a good arm so he throws deep a lot and it looks good but he can't consistently sustain drives.
I heard a little chatter earlier in the offseason that the Bengals were really impressed with McCarron and think he can be a starter for them if Dalton can't get them over the hump. Great opening drive for Jameis. Amazing how confident and vocal he is at the line of scrimmage, you don't see that from too many rookies.
