I don't care if he is the best player in the draft. How many effing #1 picks have we now used on the DL over the last 5 years? It's asinine. We didn't need another DL. There had to be offers to move down. The effing D better be the #1 D for the next 2-3 years or I'm gonna want Bowles and Mac fired.

If he took out Dion and Len Berman simultaneously I'd be ecstatic!

For those who are not able to grip with the fact that in the draft BPA is everything no matter what your needs are please focus your attention on what winning teams like the Steelers, the Pats and the Packers amongst others do year after year. Our pick was far and away the best choice on the draft, and arguably even with a better potential in the future than our own Richardson. Mo is good but not at that level.
Mo is now necessary but not essential if negotiations don't pan out. You can never have enough depth in the front. If any one should complain is when we selected Coples, a hybrid that does not fit our scheme to this day.
    Mac A+ so far.

Hey, I'm right there with you. The thing is, taking Williams opens up all those options for you:

    • A major factor in hiring Todd Bowles was the defense he runs
    • Mo is a great player, but he's also coming into the point where he'll get more expensive annually
    • Mo is also looking at the potential to be coming into a significant amount of guaranteed money if he signs a long termdeal
    • Mo has significant trade value if you want to capitalize
    • Mo has significant on-field value if you want to hold off
    • Mo, while more expensive going forward, is under team control for 2 more years, so you can even wait it out and then move him
    • Williams has huge potential that allows you to either augment and already good D, or try and sell high on Mo
There's a lot of possibility now with the Williams pick. It unlocks a lot of leverage in the situation we have with Mo.

He said "great offensive player," not loud-mouthed jerk.

If you count Coples as a DL, I think the stats are 7 straight defensive picks, with 5 of them being DL.

Ugh bring the draft back to NYC. This has got to be the dullest draft I've ever seen.

Some mocks had 5 WRs in the top 16 picks. Would have to run 3 in a row.

Phins are gonna take Parker I bet.

Peat makes a lot of sense for a pass first team like the Saints

You're giving us reason and rationality? LOL Of course you're right, and what previous regimes did shouldn't matter, but it does. I'm sick of all the 1st round picks going to the DL. If they are going to go D they should at least take an OLB which is more important than DL positions. Then there's the offense.

I still can't believe we spent another first on a defensive lineman.
