    So we lose one of the best 3-4 DE's in the league for a guy who hasn't proved anything and what? Why not take something we need and keep one of the best players in the league? Money issues my ass, he could be franchised next year.

    Agreed. This is an indefensible pick considering the roster. I heard the same garbage when we took Coples. You don't wain the SB by drafting DL every year in the 1st round, it's lunacy

    Dean, I've postulated recently that there's no such thing as overkill in a league with as much turnover/attrition as the NFL. The way rosters change so quickly, and players are in/out of the league, as well as switch teams as FAs, I don't think you can really say that you're ever set at any position because of incumbents except QB.

    If Williams is THAT good (and I know you don't think he is), then in a year or two it won't matter. Much like Sheldon. The truly elite are irreplaceable if you have them on rookie wage, regardless of who else is on the team at their position.

    This is the same thing we did in FA, throw a bunch of talent at CB and hope it sticks.

    We have needs that have to be filled.
