Oh god, Willie Colon. A couple of times this year I had to remind myself that every other team starts with 1st and 10, as opposed to our 15.

though i like powell , he's easily replaceable. davis can and will be better than harris. his best asset was tackling and he's declined on that last 2 yrs. sure he made lots of tackles . he's the mlb , he's supposed to! but whiffed too many times also and can't cover anyone. he and especially pace should go. k wilson still sux! colon is a fkn nightmare!! landry isn't that good either. we have some reallly good talent on d but quite a few glaring weaknesses also. we def need to get faster at the lb position.

Chris Johnson should be CUT after all this gun crap and more importantly: Lack of production.

Use that money to re-sign Powell. Him and Ivory are a good enough 1-2 punch for me.

Yeah and Richardson could be our 3rd runningback.

Imo there will be too many moving parts this off season to really go through that list comprehensively. For example on Salas, I thought he was serviceable for the role he played, essentially outplaying Nelson to get the 4th roster spot in a year when Kerley did not contrbitute much. But many here hope to upgrade wideout, so how can we say today that Salas would stay if those hopes are pursued? DL is another one where a possible move to a base 4-3 could well effect roster choices for bench players as well as starters. In short it's a bit premature for some of those listed.

Having said that, there's some who should not come back no matter what, and that imo includes Kyle Wilson and Willie Colon. Vick is not coming back, either, no matter what the need for help at Qb.

Harrison should stay regardless of DL moves, imo. I am less enamored of K Ellis than some here, apparently.

Imo the big FA issue this off season will concern David Harris. I think he did not play up to his contract this year, and his PFF rating is a signal suggesting he is declining. It looked that way to the naked eye to me, as well. Meanwhile Davis is improving and is even giving signs of being a leader. On balance the overall situation makes me think Harris should not be brought back at a price near what he has been making.

Ya'll thought I would bolt to the Bills with Rex...didn't you? Com'mon...admit it....you thought I was a gonner. LOL!!! I BLEED Kelly Green!!

Here is the way I see it. Harris is gone...just sign, seal and deliver him to the Bills. He's Rex's "Bart Scott" to help bring his philosophies to the Bills. But, to be honest, that's about it really...now...FUCK the Bills...on to us.

For those clowns thinking we should get rid of Powell..."Why?" Soooo underrated and, to be quite frank, I was surprised they brought CJ in last year and didn't just give him the 2nd RB slot. Screw drafting a guy to replace him. Draft a guy to be our 3rd down guy/backup. We should go into the season with Ivory, Powell and draft pick. Powell deserves to be shown the "love" with something around $2mill a year. He's been a good soldier and is very productive when given the chance. He could start if an injury to Ivory were to happen.

Other than Harris (see above) I agree with every one of the OP's "keep" picks. I would add Ellis and Salas to the keep pile if money warrants. Maintaining our d-line depth is tantamount, Ellis adds to our depth and can start in a pinch. I also agree with everyone else that Snacks gets a 1st round tender. I added Salas to this mix because there is something about the guy. With a little more seasoning and experience I think he could turn into quite a receiver. That's been the problem with the Jets over the years is they end up letting these cheap guys go, that show some flashes, and they end up being rock stars somewhere else. The kid won't cost much and he can still be a number 4/5 guy. Shit, to be down right straight up...how about we let Sanjay Lal "walk" into free agency and bring in someone who can actually teach the receiver position!

I'm definitely onboard with the "should go" pile. I'm not as harsh as some on here about Kyle Wilson. In my opinion, he is a top 5 nickel/dime CB...ONLY. It's when we put him on the outside is when trouble starts. Just wanted that opinion out there...but, he still needs to go. We HAVE to be able to move our guys around in the event of injury and this guy is just a pure pass interference call waiting to happen when he gets outside. As well, I'd gladly pay Colon to LEAVE the team. How many drives did we start 1 & whatever because of his dumb ass penalties?

Also, I'm kind of in the camp of keeping John Connor and letting him and Bohannon duke it out in TC this summer to see who stays...of course, as one poster aptly put, this depends upon whomever the incoming guy(s) are and what philosophies they bring. Should be an interesting off season. Let's hope we have a HC soon so we can see what direction we might be heading in.

    Mezz,

The other factor about Wilson is he's probably going to want more money than he's worth, and might figure a change of scenery would benefit him. He's a problem since he was a #1 who ended up being a limited role player. He also limits your Cb roster flexibility for the reasons you mention. But I doubt he sees it that way, and will likely seek more money elsewhere. I'd be surprised at this point if he comes back. It's not just a matter of harshness.

Yup...agreed...I think he'll find it pretty difficult on the open market to find anyone willing to pay him anything other than backup money...and he'll be lucky to get that. ;)

I suppose if the timing is such that he doesn't get big money elsewhere, he could be back at a more reasonable number, but the Jets need to make more than one move, imo, at Cb and the lay of the land may change too much by then. In fact that's what I think will happen. He'll go somewhere else at less money than he would turn down in the first go around from the Jets.

Guys like Ijalana, Conner, Bellore, Adams all end up sticking to teams like us because you don't go into free agency needing backups everywhere but defensive line.

They don't have to be world beaters to stay on the roster and block for the extra point or sprint down the field on kickoff coverage.
