It's encouraging for Mike to say that because he's a straight shooter that means he showed some improvement. However, he's not good enough to be a #1 receiver. It's a good feeling now, but when week 1 comes we will all be sorely disappointed if Hill is #1 on that chart.
I thought your post meant that we were all getting laid.... But really, If he's #1 on the depth chart then he probably deserves to be there, As people have stated there's no connection from the current FO to Hill,.. If he ends up lined up as #1 ( as unlikely as it seems ) It will mean that he's earned it.
If you got some money, I'll call up the Godfather have him stop by with some hoes. I haven't seen anything spectacular from Hill that would make him a #1 receiver. I hope they know what they are doing. Putting him at the #1 spot would put him in a spot to potentially fail.
Yea,. I'm with you, and to be fair this was from Westoff. Not anyone related to the team. Even if he does turn it on I still see Decker Kerley Hill as #1, slot, #2 Honestly not sure what prompted this from Westoff,.. Would be interested to see the context of the quote/
Amazing the amount of venom that is being spewed against Hill so far this year. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but to be fair not an ounce of it has to do with his performance and efforts to catch the ball so far in 2014 . If anything he has been one of the most consistent receivers. To drift back to his draft expectations and compare him to an elite top ten receiver on his abilities to play the position and expect picture perfect catches is literally insane. His biggest problem since the day he was drafted was created by the idiotic presumption of our past drafting gurus that he was remotely ready to contribute for at least 2-3 years and at a #1 receiver level at that. That was not his fault but the lack of insight of those who drafted him. On account of that blunder he was forced to play way before his time, at a level he was not ready, and the rest is history. Last year that nasty injury did not help one bit in his development. Moving up on the draft like we did for a project wide receiver with very limited exposure to any NFL ready program was idiotic at best, and duping Jet fans in believing it was even worse. That was then and now is now. This kid is finally starting to get it, and become a contributor, and his speed alone will force the CBs to take notice, picture perfect catches or not. It will be just like the regime of old to let a player go just when is ready to contribute. Its time to give this kid a chance by comparing him to the rest of the players we have in camp, and hope he can succeed, make the team and kick ass, and certainly not under the false pretense that he is expected to be the second coming of Megatron or J. Jones. The Jet's past history to overdraft players with potential for a "need now" position is hopefully over.
Interesting stuff. I made the off the wall prediction a few months back that Hill & Kerley would surpass Decker before the end of this season. It would be the best possible thing for the team, although I have doubts. Interesting to see Westhoff saying that he thinks Hill is the best WR on the team. I can only dream.
just browsing through todays practice tweets and saw this - high praise! Retweeted by Let's Talk Jets! Kimberly Jones @KimJonesSports 38m Jets: Beautiful catch by TE Zach Sudfeld at pylon. When he's on the field with Michael Vick, Sudfeld looks like Dallas Clark. Expand
Chris Lopresti @CLoprestiWFAN 32s Shaq Evans' shoulder injury "looks pretty bad" according to Rex. Kerley DNP with an illness. Powell (hammy) was limited. #NYJ They are going to put Evans on the IR for sure. I knew this was going to happen. Redshirting Shaq Evans might be good for him going forward.
Can someone explain how this works if Shaq goes on IR? Does that mean we open up a roster spot but get to keep him? If that's the case, it's a no-brainer. We can keep Salas on board and next year, it's like we're adding a 4th round WR to our crop of rookies that we draft.
Putting Evans on the IR, opens up that very roster spot for another player. This in my opinion would mean that Salas will stay on this roster - which in my opinion is a very good thing.
agreed, by the sounds of things he's struggled to keep up, and even Salas looks better. frankly, should that continue the latter would get the last non-ST WR roster spot. So… maybe keep him aboard through IR? its no big deal, he's a fourth rounder, a rookie one at that who can definitely develop into a better receiver.
SMH. So that's what you took out of that tweet? Possibly because Sudfeld is running mostly with the two's? _
