Agreed. This draft is VERY deep at WR. If we dont fuck up the scouting like we did with Stephen Hill, we can possibly get 2 starters in the 2nd and 3rd.
I say we draft Carr or Manziel if they're available R1 and Lee, Matthews or Robinson R2 if available. Go safety R3. BPA at O-Line 4th. Try to find an insurance WR, TE and someone in the secondary. Maybe a good veteran lineman.
I would personally love this: Round 1: Johnny Manziel Round 2: Landry or ASJ Round 3: Fiedorowicz or Adams
Pretty much. Not that there aren't exceptions but if you draft a QB after the 4th round, you probably have very little confidence that they can develop into a franchise QB. Not that you can't get a good backup in those rounds (which is a very underrated asset in IMO), but I wouldn't expect any major contribution from a QB in those rounds.
I Like Sammy Watkins over every other receiver, Marquis Lee is a close second, but if we were to somehow get into the 7-10 range, I would think it's either Khalil Mack or one of those two receivers
Manziel would be a disaster as a NY Jet. This is the very last organization he should go too. Dude was cracking under the pressure in college, I can only imagine the shit storm of Manziel playing for the Jets. I shudder to think of the aftermath, which could be worse than the Tebow mess. I'm not saying he can't or won't be a successful NFL player, but it won't be HERE. He needs to go to a small market team like Cleveland or something. Like it or not, it takes a special individual to play QB in NY, especially the Jets who are more of whipping boys than the Giants. Manziel worries me as to his strength to handle that.
What pressure has he cracked under? He created all that offseason stuff himself and he strived in spite of it. He's played great this year in the face of incredible scrutiny and he's done the opposite of whatever cracking under the pressure is. He is the PERFECT person to play in NY--he was born for it--it's in his makeup. He'll take the NY media and own them. He'll be the exact opposite of a disaster. _
You're insane. Manziel would be perfect for NY. He has it written all over him. He loves when people give him crap and he has a swagger comparable to Namath. And that's saying something.
Exactly. He'd be a waste in a town like Cleveland or Jacksonville or Minnesota or TB. He's a big personality that should be on a big stage. _
Last year I didn't want to draft a QB, I wanted to draft some OL, WR and TEs (and defensive side, obviously) and go into the season with what we had. I figures we would be a pretty bad team, not Bridgewater bad but bad enough that Manziel might be available at our spot. Since then there has been a lot of negative press about Manziel that has out me off a bit. It would also suck having wasted a second rounder on Geno but, given what we've seen this year, I'm not against drafting a new QB for next year. If Idzik uses his first rounder on defense I might just snap.
I'd be happy with Evans. Although I'd love to get Watkins as he's the most explosive WR in this draft. We still need another WR too. Could always find a young veteran FA to fill this. Offense will be the theme of this draft.
Do you guys live under a rock? He's nothing like you describe. I'm not going to give the whole history of Manziel but he has taken all criticism personally, he has taken the NCAA investigation personally, hell, he takes a freaking parking ticket from Texas A&M personally. His own father has admitted publically that they are concerned for the well being of his son because of the immense pressure he's receiving. About how they wish Texas A&M as an institution would do more to protect his son. Are you kidding me? Wait till he gets to the NFL!!! Were not talking about speculative reports from anonymous sources, were talking about actual quotes from Manziel himself, his parents and teammates about how he doesn't like the pressure. He tweets "can't wait to leave College Station," but he might want to reconsider that notion. Being the big man on campus and experiencing a little pressure is nothing like the shit storm that he will take as QB of the Jets. Just wait till he loses a couple games in a row and throws a few INTs and has to stand in front of the NY media. OUCH. Ryan Leaf 2.0 The Namath comparison couldn't be further from the truth. Namath took ON the pressure. He was a guy who had the balls to handle the criticism, put winning above all, and busted his ass to get where he went. Manziel is a privileged kid who finally for the first time in his life faces adversity and he has people worrying that he might break down because of his ability to handle that pressure.
LOL--those quotes from his Dad were over the summer when all the investigations were going on, the tweet about leaving college station was over the summer when all the investigations were going on. What's happened since then? He's arguably played BETTER than he did last year, he's become so much more of a pocket passer and is right there for a second Heisman--probably lose out but he'll be 2 or 3 at the worst. Yup, the guy has TOTALLY cracked from the pressure. The guy would eat up NY. _
And he's done all of that while the school protected him from the media pressure, not making him available to answer questions whenever they feel fit. (for the second year in a row) He won't have that luxury in the NFL. For the first time in his life he will have the microphone constantly in his face and will have to face the tough questions... of which he has shown he doesn't like doing. He's a good player but he's in a wide-open offense with lots of talented guys around him. With the Jets it would be much tougher sledding. I'm telling you. This kid will go down in flames if the Jets drafted him.
Then I guess it's settled then. I mean, you're telling us, so it's got to be true. Thanks for setting us all straight BN. _
100% percent agree with you Baker. How many times does Manziel throw a jump ball up after scrambling 40 yards behind the line of scrimmage and Evans pulls it in?
