I wasn't talking about our pick. I was talking generally about folks basing their opinions on faulty information. Someone could come here and claim Josh Huff was a massive reach because (i) they had never seen him play and (ii) no magazine, blog or Internet draft guru had him earlier than a 5th rounder. That was my point. _
That's my take of the kid. Also, he won't win the big one for this team either. He is strictly the 'hold-the-fort' guy until the next Joe Namath arrives.
Colts didn't need Moncrief and I guess Jax will be letting Blackmon go. Shorts, Lee, Robinson and they also have Ace Sanders and Denard Robinson.
That's a wrong comparison. Simms could have had HoF career with record-shattering performances if Giants didn't pick him. Walsh specifically told him that 9ers are picking him if he's there. Instead he went to the Giants, and 9ers pick Montana instead. As it happened, Parcells had no regard for stats, and he didn't want that out of his QBs either - which is why Phil had the career that he had. It's not because of the 'lack of talent' issue. He even yelled at Simms for that during the game, if my memory serves me correct. I seriously doubt if that is how Rex approaches his offense.
All the Jets have needed since Rex has gotten here, has been a QB that doesn't turn the ball over. Unfortunately, that's a tall order.
I think McCarron's biggest critique is a fallacy, that he has a weak arm. His arm is just as good as Matt Ryan's, he's smart, accurate, reads defenses, more mobile and a leader. _
Seriously, I want the Jets to draft the kid more than anybody here in TGG - I can assure you that. If Jets can get Kevin Norwood while at it, that would find the giddy kid still in me. That said - let's not kid ourselves. He 'might' have a shot to have HoF calibre career - but also, he has a chance to be a backup for his entire career, probably a good one while at it. My take is, since his lowest ceiling is a very good backup for the whole career, with an upside of pretty decent starter, I like that gamble. But will he win the games for you? Will he take the entire team on his own shoulders, and lead the team to victory? I strongly doubt that. I don't think you can find the "Montana Magic" in the kid. [Hence the 4th round selection.]
We missed out on guys who are going to win games on their own shoulders. But a smart smart accurate ball protecting QB is going to win a lot of games for a very long time in this league. _
It's great that you get so much enjoyment from being a Jets fan. You are just a ray of sunshine. Why do you bother if you hate everything about the Jets?.
Yep. I hear you. With the way the offense is built around, McCarron will win 10+ games a year in due time, if Jets do pick him. What matters is, though, will he win come playoff time? That was where I was looking at, when I wrote about him not winning the big ones. P.S. Jets did miss out QBs that could take the matters into their own hands and just fucking win it at will - but they didn't miss one in this year's draft. Nor did they last year. There wasn't one in recent history, with the possible exception of Andrew Luck. [And Jets weren't in position to pick him in the first place, so it's pointless to include him in the discussion.]
Why do the Jets need to trade up n a deep draft. We get it. You want he Jets to trade up. Get used to the new regime where the Jets keep their picks and fill the roster with many good inexpensive players. Depth is a good thing. Now can you stop posting the same thing n every page?
4th round is out of question. [4th/15th/37th] 5th? Why do you want to do that? I don't think he was talking about why Jets should trade up. The context implies - to me, anyway - why Jets shouldn't trade up now. [Trading up now? Makes no sense to me - or you, or legler for that matter.]
