That's the sad part about the league, though. A mediocre coach can draw up mediocre plays and elite players can win through a combination of clutch shots and biased calls that are accepted as normal for some reason. It's why the NBA has lost a ton of credibility.
Well that's what happens when you have two top 10 players and probably a top 25 player. That part is rare and comes through good FO work, good ownership, and good development on the team. It's a unique scenario what OKC has right now to have that many talented players, that young, and not blowing up the cap. It's not the norm in the NBA. If you don't have good coaching, you lose. If you have great players, you have to do less to win a lot of games. You still need to coach well to win a championship though. Look at the recent teams that won championships and their coaching: Spoelstra Carlisle Phil Jackson Doc Pop Riley Larry Brown Phil and Pop You need good coaching and you need good players. In fact I would say you need great coaching. EDIT: And now it might be revisionist to say those coaches are great knowing they won titles, but I think most of those names are definite good coaches and not just riding from one year of success. EDIT 2: While coaching in OKC is not good in my opinion, you have to really credit their scouting and development programs and their ownership ( sorry seattle). So yeah they are missing the HC, but they have everything else needed in a great organization. It's not really a shame they are winning games, but Brooks has put a cap on his success. He would really change my mind if he manages to steal this series from SA. He's done it once before.
Barkley: "I don't think I've ever seen an NBA game with two starters not score. That's impossible." lol
West overs have been very good to me this playoffs. The games with totals of 205-215 (all Western Conference games, of course), been betting a lot of those overs and winning
Its funny to, you can make an arguement that OKC has the two best players in this series. Personally I think Parker is better but Westbrook is right behind em.
Parker is the perfect fit for that Spurs team and their system. Westbrook is a whole different animal. And he is just that, an animal. Sometimes good, sometimes bad. But you kind of have to accept the bad with the good now. If you check their first few seasons in the playoffs, they're very similar, Westbrook being a better rebounder and a better scorer. The difference between the two is, Parker has Pop, Westbrook doesn't. But Westbrook potential is limitless. He could be great.
OKC Offensive Playbook 1. Play #1: make one pass, two if needed - Durant shoots 2. Play #2: make one pass, two if needed - Westbrook shoots Get the Spurs-beat-the-Heat finals going already....
How impressive would it be if the Spurs can win another championship so many years later? Could you see the big 3 in Miami winning another title in 7 years? hell nah, Celtics big 3 never won another either. 2007 to 2014 is a long time and if they can get this done it would be very impressive. Credit the GM for finding the pieces to revive this team this late into the run.
That's not the NBA anymore. The closest remaining comparison is probably Kobe and the Lakers. But that was only 5 years I think and they only kept Kobe and brought back Fisher and Phil after they took brief departures from LA.
Indiana up 16-10 early. 9-2 run before Miami calls a timeout. It looks like the heat are so scared to go st Hibbert. Every time lebron gets inside he kicks it out. And bosh fades away from the rack. ATTACK HIM
Wade looks really good. Surprisingly good because I didn't think he could do most of this in the long spurts he's doing it for
LeBron represents everything I fucking hate about the NBA, flop central, star ref calls, and hype beyond belief.
That was a foul... West is a brick wall. Come on This is also one of the worst halves of basketball I have ever watched
That was a foul. It was a clear foul. West is one of the few players stronger than Lebron, according to Lebron himself earlier this year. Lebron does flop still, not as frequently as he used to, but that was a foul.
