Obvious what Kidd did there. Rest Pierce and Garnett and get them ready for Thursday. One day off a 7 game series with the day off tomorrow. Pierce with 29 minutes and Garnett with 16. Goal was to split the first two games.
that's not resting them. Pierce averaged 28 during the season, averages 30 during the playoffs. Plus, this was an obvious blowout, so the last few minutes the geezers weren't going to play. Garnett averaged 20.5 mpg during the season, 20 during the playoffs. They played more than usual during the first 3 quarters, and he sat them late. I don't think Pierce played at all in the 4th, and KG didn't play much. The plan was not to give away Game 1. It was to try and win Game 1, but if it became unlikely, he'd just tank the 4th. The Nets have four chances to take a home game from the Heat if they can somehow win all their home games (pretty unlikely, I think the Heat take at least 1 in Brooklyn). They can't afford to give up one of their 4 chances.
Is it really that hilarious? I think the starting 5 of Portland is better than the starting 5 of San Antonio. The Spurs have better depth by far, and better coaching obviously.
Yeah An abysmal one. You're one of my favorite posters here on TGG, so I was hoping for an actual comment of your opinion, not just a waste of space.
To be honest, that was a personal opinion on your part. Not gonna argue with it. I found it funny that Barkley thinks the starting five in Portland are better than those in San Antonio because I completely disagree, but I'm not gonna fight you on your opinion.
And I don't want you to "fight" my opinion. However, I know that you know your basketball, so it would be interesting to hear your thoughts, but no biggie man. Anyway, Barkley is ridiculous. He's only on tv in my opinion because of how stupid he is, and how he always messes his words up. I mean it's like trying to listen to Michael Irvin or Cris Colinsworth.
Well, I just think the likes of Tony Parker, Tim Duncan and a rising Leonard are a much better trio than Aldridge, Lillard and Lopez. This statement is geared more towards the playoffs and right now. I think Aldridge will be one hell of a basketball player, as will Lillard, but these are guys that are really just taking form. Lillard has been clutch, as has Aldridge, but for how long? When it comes down to the nit and grit, would you rather have a Tony Parker and Tim Duncan on your side or a Aldridge and Lillard? The biggest thing San Antonio has right now is experience. When their squad is healthy, as it is now, they are hard to beat in the playoffs. If you factor in a more experienced Leonard, they become even more dangerous. I get it though. I get the hype behind Portland. I really do, but again this all revolves back to experience and a players entire career. In my opinion, the only reason you could even compare them is due to the ages of Parker and Duncan, but player for player? I would take San Antonio's starting five any day.
Maybe the fast start to the season Portland had is lingering in my head. To me, I was just thinking about the starting 5 of each team in general. I wasn't thinking about experience being in the post-season, and who is going to win now, tonight, and this week. Plus I have a thing against The Spurs, so I don't like to say that they are as good as everybody claims.
LOL same with me and the Heat. Love LeBron, but hate that franchise. It doesn't help that Riley runs that team either.
