he's an idiot for what he did with this woman trusting her, giving her tons of money, etc. Sterling has always been a racist, difference is here he had someone stab him in the back by taping him. could be a distraction for the Clippers players
Does he not realize his 5 best players are all Africans American?? What black free agent is ever going to want to sign with them now? What coach is gonna work for him? I really wanna see what cp3 and doc have to say about this. I hope this doesn't cause them to lose some games now. I have them at 4:1 to win the west
Donald Sterling has been known to be a racist for a long time. this isn't news to anyone that has or does play for his team, and isn't going to affect anything. playing in LA is a fantastic opportunity for any player, and playing for a winning LA team even better. this is only a story for those who want to make it a story for THEIR OWN personal benefit. society isn't benefited by knowing this so what is the need to report it other than those reporting it having their own agenda. these weren't comments made publicly, these were his own personally held beliefs made in private, that were possibly illegally recorded (recording any conversation in California without the knowledge or consent of the other person is illegal -- depends on where this conversation took place). I don't agree with his beliefs, but for fucks sake, he made them in private. we want to crucify him for holding beliefs and expressing them in private because they were brought to public? even public figures should have some right to maintain their privacy in regards to things that take place in private. the bigger story here should be the media that wants to make it a story but ignore the fact that he has a right to privacy when in private, and that privacy certainly seems to have been invaded with this recording. Just look at the fuck stick Chris Broussard claiming it is clear the Sterling regards his players as slaves because he doesn't believe they are equal. no, you dumbfuck, slavery wasn't just about believing blacks and whites were not equal, it was about believing they were not equal and as such blacks were not deserving of the same rights and freedoms as whites. Sterling pays his players millions of dollars (unlike slavery), doesn't seem to think his players don't deserve the rights and freedoms they enjoy, he simply is prejudice against them and doesn't want them associated with him or people he knows personally. either Broussard is a complete dumb fuck or a dishonest piece of shit to ignore the differences between the situations the Clippers players are in and the situation slaves were forced into and claim being a prejudiced asshole is the equivalent of a slave master who is prejudice and restricts the freedoms and rights of slaves simply because one element of slavery exists. but, as I said before, this story is about the reporters who want to benefit by the controversy they can stir up, not that there is some important news that the public should know about in regards to his comments.
Adam Silver Press Conference on NBATV at 8:30 PM. Indefinite suspension looming? Hopefully. File it under Conduct detrimental to the league.
Chris Broussard is definitely a moron. Reminds me of the SI cover Charles Barkley did, claiming the NBA enslaves black people. I am sure millions of people would enjoy being subjugated in this manner. Millions of dollars a year, private jets, hotels, fancy locker rooms, etc. Sign me up. The whole media furor is stupid. It was common knowledge that Sterling is a racist. Google it. Goes backs many years. The difference is no one had illegally taped his private conversations before. And now the NBA is under pressure to do something because of some back stabbing whore and the sleazy TMZ.
I don't see how a private conversation can reasonably be claimed to be conduct detrimental. This wasn't criminal behavior being conducted in private, they are beliefs he us not only entitled to have but beliefs this country protects the right to have. Being a racist in private is not conduct detrimental. What exactly did he do that is detrimental? Nothing. Had he made these comments in a public setting I would certainly agree.
