I think they win it this time. Its amazing, but there is not a player on that squad that doesn't just flat out know how to play basketball. The Spurs outscored the Thunder's bench tonight 54-4. That's insane. That shows some serious depth and some serious unity for the bench to come in and score that way in a game that was constantly close. With that bench and the sting of last year's finals still there, I think they win this thing. I can't see Miami beating this Spurs team. They are so good it's scary.
I can't see that at all. I just can't. As much as I hate the Heat, last year I thought San Antonio would win it but I had the biggest fear of Miami. I just don't have that this year against this San Antonio team. They got better which is insane.
The Spurs are better than last year, people forget last year San Antonio looked questionable down the stretch, they were playing .500 basketball for the last 20 games so. They ran to a depleted Lakers team, a young Warriors team, and then got to avoid OKC. Then of course went to the finals and nearly won it. This year they were playing great all year, went through a much harder playoff road. This team is undoubtedly better. Ginobli last season was horrible, especially in the finals, he looks A LOT better now.
I cant see the Heat winning a game 7 in San Antonio. Look at it this way, if you are picking Heat in 7 then that means either: The Spurs were down 3-2 and WON IN MIAMI when the Heat have a chance to win it all and then lose at home in game 7? or The Spurs are up 3-2, lose game 6 in Miami and game 7 in San Antonio Sorry I cannot see them blowing a 3-2 lead again, especially because they have the home game.
The Spurs are always Elite, pure basketball at its finest but I just think the Heat are too talented, let LeBron flop a few calls, they still have Wade playing at an elite level, all they need is Bosh to hit a few shots and they'll be fine.
I hope not, I think Duncan is retiring so I would love to see him walk away with a chip, especially on LeBron's bitch ass.
Well, Soxxx, Byz, congratulations. You earned it, and truly have the best all around TEAM I've seen maybe ever. I'm down about the loss, but from here on out the Spurs have my backing. Hope you guys take it all.
Heat are good. But Spurs this year are on another level. Can't see Miami winning this one. Spurs in 5 or 6. IF, Heat wins this one, I will probably call them a close second to Jordan's Chicago.
I was sure this series was going to 7. When Westbrook and Durant were killing it early, and it started looking like the Spurs were going into their shell again. Tough series, I hate playing the Thunder, when they are in top form they are impossible to beat by any team. I still don't like Westbrook, but he got some respect after he made it a point to go out of his way to shake Pop's hand when he got pulled in the fourth. One of the things that soured me on him was the last regular team game, he was visibly talking shit to Pop when time was expiring, that pissed me the hell off. So yeah, he got some of that back for me. Classy post, Jall.
Tim Duncan is still my all-time favorite college player. The Hawks had been taken off TBS by the time he was drafted by the Spurs. (I had no interest in the Nets or Knicks and could see the Hawks 35-40 times a year through the 1993-94 season. After that, the number was decreased to 5-8). I should have followed Duncan and switched allegiances. Now, I am stuck with the Jets and Mets and nobody in the NBA. I think the Spurs are better this season and should win the Finals.
Spurs now down to -120 Spurs have definitely had a better season to this point. Maybe Parker and Wade will benefit from the 4 or 5 day break. Leonard is also banged up.
I thought it was going 7 to although hours prior to the game I felt really good about winning game 6 for whatever reason, it might have been because of excitement but I just felt like they were finally going to win in OKC. When it got to OT I thought we were going to lose, because it similar to the Heat game 6 last year. Spurs blew a 10 pt lead, alllowed the other team to take the lead, then Spurs take the lead at the end, missed free throw, tie game, overtime. Even when Durant missed his 3 in OT, I was expecting the Thunder to pull of a Ray Allen shot but Diaw managed to get the ball.
I just saw highlights of game 6. Crazy ending and crazy the Thunder only had 5 players score. I still think overall Brooks needs to take another step as coach. Pop used a stretch 4 and the Thunder looked unprepared. I'm going out on a limb and saying Spurs in 5. I don't think the Heat have the depth to stop the Spurs and I think the Spurs are more overall prepared to play small ball this year. Battier is a shell of himself and even though Lewis was successful against IND, I think his time runs out. Both teams are smart enough to attack poor defenders so it will be hard for both coaches to get away with it for long stretches. I also think the Spurs catch the Heat by surprise by being the first team all playoffs that takes advantage and puts a game away when they coast. The things bother me about picking Spurs in 5: a) Lebron James b) Lebron James c) Spoelstra This finals matchup is going to be beautiful basketball to watch. If anyone says the Spurs are boring or Miami has no offense they need to pay attention this series. The Heat destroyed one top defenses in IND because they executed an offense so perfectly. You don't do that with hero ball alone. EDIT: Above if Tony Parker is healthy. If Parker is hurt, uhhh Heat in 7. No clue then. I trust Pop.
I always thought Duncan would retire after 2015 season but ESPN had some very long article about Pop and Duncan, I didnt get to read it (because it takes like an hour), but those who did said that they got the impression that Duncan might play as long as he possibly can. With Popovich cutting his minutes, it makes a lot easier on him to play longer.
