Let me clarify, I am NOT Magic Johnson, nor do I claim to be. Just making it clear before all the trolls begin to say "sox claims to be Magic Johnson!!!" and I get morons showing up at my door asking for autographs.
That's not the only cost. I don't think Seattle has an arena ready. I think that whole process would have to go through also and with the new TV deal coming up, I think he keeps the team in LA. And if I remember correctly Ballmer made an offer to the Kings angling to move them out of SAC and the NBA went towards the owners keeping them in SAC. So if Ballmer is moving the Clippers, it probably will shock the NBA also in a Bennet type move. Yeah he could move them, but I think the NBA is trying to avoid that. LA is a good place to have a team on the rise, and SEA is a good threat to any cities that don't want to fund a new arena
Probably right but guys with egos like him tend to shoot for the whole legacy thing. He's now viewed as the white knight saving the NBA from the most hated man in America (although Sterling didn't REALLY damage the NBA LOL) and he might convince the NBA that LA doesn't need 2 teams, he'll get a beautiful stadium built in downtown Seattle within 5-6 years and the difference between this and the Kings- he'll actually own this franchise. _
No his point was, if an existing franchise can't get taxpayer money to build a new arena, the NBA could always use Seattle as a threat for a potential move. _
That's true, I see where you are coming from. I think he has a better argument for a struggling team to move to Seattle instead of taking a team out of LAC. Either way, he gets that voice which he didn't have as a non owner
And I have no idea how the Mariners are drawing but it seems like the Seahawks have a tremendous following and Seattle just seems like one of those towns that could really now support an NBA franchise. That town seems to have an "it" factor for want of a better analogy. Ooooooh all those cool pacific north westerners with their Starbucks and their salmon and their Pinot Noirs. _
yep, just posting an article http://www.metro.us/boston/sports/nba/2014/05/29/2014-nba-finals-full-schedule-tv-start-time/ Seattle could always support an NBA team, it's not just now. The NBA never should've left Seattle.
From a ratings standpoint it is definitely a mistake to put that game on a Friday. Thursday would do much better.
Just reading up on Ballmers bid to buy the Kings and relocate them to Seattle, sounds like the town is in favor of building a downtown stadium and would welcome a team. I gotta think that's one of his ulterior motives. _
I don't see what the big deal would be. LA already has the Lakers. No city in the world should really NEED to have 2 teams. Seattle deserves a team quite honestly.
They do, but removing a good Clippers team from LA? Why would you do that. If the bigger market can support two teams, you do it.
World of Isaac @WorldofIsaac 2m Udonis to Lance: "I'm going to fuck you up...I will." https://vine.co/v/Md9hHJIJAAB
If the game keeps going on as it is and Lance is in there late, who plays the Dexter Pittman role? Is Beasley dressed? I think all other Heat players re too valuable to lose
