Lol If you honestly think a basketball player like LeBron is making his decision based on a letter, then I don't know what to tell you. People act like it was all one-sided and LeBron did absolutely nothing wrong in his departure. Granted, that letter was rough, but there are ten times more things in favor of him returning then of him leaving. What does Miami have going for them? Honestly. You can preach on and on about the family bullshit, but what do they have? A 33 year old worn out Dwyane Wade? The additions of McRoberts and Granger? Shabazz Napier? I mean, people honestly think that team last year will win a championship again? What have they added to make them better? They lost Battier, they probably lost Allen, they likely will lose Birdman. What have they gained? Oh, trust in Riley! Give me a break. What can Riley do? He's watching everyone he targeted sign elsewhere. Who's left? Luol Deng? Oh, that's really gonna put them over the top. Let's talk Cleveland. Kyrie Irving, Andrew Wiggins, and three first round draft picks next season. They sign LeBron add Kevin Love and suddenly that roster makes Miami's roster look like a joke. His home is in Cleveland. He was born and raised in Akron. His wife wants to raise their children in Cleveland. His agent wants him back in Cleveland. His friends want him back in Cleveland. The list goes on and on. The greatest part? Teams like San Antonio are sleeping like babies through all of this. You honestly think they are worried about Miami next season, if they sign LeBron? Hahaha yeah right. If I didn't love LeBron so much and hate Miami so bad, I'd be hoping for him to resign with Miami. Why? Because if they sign him, Bosh is following suit, and Wade is as well. They will be stuck in the same shit they were in last year, but this time Wade is even older. It's like watching them hurt themselves. It's pretty awesome.
As much as I like to bust balls, Cleveland is so much the play for LeBron. He wants to be a billionaire and one of the ways he can do that is to remove any lingering stigma about him that he can. Before he left Cleveland, he was pretty much beloved, the hate didn't start until after the Decision, the pep rally, the douchebaggery of that whole South Beach deal. He goes back as the prodigal son, that stigma is all but erased. He'll be beloved again. He's going to win more championships, I think we can all admit that. Winning a couple more in Miami (maybe) doesn't buy him all that much more positivity towards his legacy. Going home and winning a championship in Cleveland is worth so much more that winning 1 or 2 more in Miami. Mind you, that's not to say it has anything to do with winning in Cleveland per se, it's the obliteration of his only real indiscretion. _
Can't agree more. His legacy will always be tainted because of that decision and the way he went about it. How does he fix that? He returns to his home and rights the wrong. He erases any spec of doubt or denial in his career, and wins more championships for his home town. The decison is forgotten, his legacy is fulfilled, and he separates himself from all the negative he's had these past four years. If he does that, how will anyone scrutinize him? He left to Miami, won two championships, but returned to Cleveland, finished his business there, and won them championships. What could you possibly say he did wrong, if this all happened like that? The best business decision, best basketball decision, best family decision, and best legacy decision he could make, is to return to Cleveland. It's that simple.
These same analysts spewing bullshit now were dead on in 2010 with his decison to play for Miami. Lol
Sheridan was right back then and He is 100% sure that he is going back now based on his one league source. The rest of the clowns lol. This is fucking stupid...He needs to make a decision. TV and radio is obsessed with this and its getting quite annoying. He should go back. That will give him the best chance to win multiple titles. He wouldn't win anything down here the next 4 years.
I have a serious question for you. You're a Heat fan, so I want to ask you this: Say LeBron is going back to Miami. What would be his reason delaying this decision so long? If he knew he wanted to go back to Miami, why would he do this and hurt the Heat organization? Because of this move, they have missed out on numerous signings and players around the league that have met with Miami have said that the uncertainty behind LeBron is pushing them away from signing there. If LeBron was coming back, what would be the purpose? Don't you think he would have made his decision quickly in hopes that Riley signed pieces around him? Also, why would he do this to Bosh? Everyone knows Bosh is waiting to make his move based on Lebron, so why would he put a stranglehold on Bosh if he was clearly coming back?
You know what's really fuckin irritating about this entire "decision" bullshit, other than it taking 11+ days? Gregg Popovich signs an extension to continue coaching with the Spurs and it gets swept under the rug because "The King" is too busy trying to decide where he wants to play. Gregg Popovich, a guy who has a regular season record of 967-443 and a playoff record of 149-90. Combined record of 1116-533! Saddest part about it all? San Antonio will probably repeat next season, no matter where LeBron goes. As much as I love LeBron, you have to hate his Hollywood bullshit. Make up your fuckin mind.
@AdrianWojnarowski Dwyane Wade left cross-country flight with LeBron James to Miami still unsure of which way James is leaning, sources tell Yahoo Sports.
That's because it's a players league. As great as Pop is, he's nearly irrelevant compared to LeBron, Melo, Kobe, Bosh, hell Stephenson is more relevant. Which is just the sad reality. _
You need to have a Bloody Mary or something. I'm upset that my local theater isn't showing Dawn of the Planet of the Apes in IMAX. That really effects my life. Not how folks perceive the treatment of some old multimillionaire in Texas. _
Sorry, Stokes, but this is a stupid post. If it were as much of a player's league as people have made it out to be for the past decade (and as you are now, apparently), the best basketball player on the planet would not have been historically embarrassed by the best coach in the NBA. That's far from irrelevance, and it's a disservice to the game to say otherwise. ESPN may be trying to change the game to be about the players, but we have just seen how great coaching can make the best player in the league irrelevant. As far as no hype about Pop's new contract, it isn't going to get much in terms of viewership because ESPN doesn't want to hype the contract of a guy that hates the media.
Sorry Byz but you missed my point. I wasn't talking about the Xs and Os of the game of basketball, I was talking about the business and the entertainment aspects. Of course any coach can out coach another coach or another team/player, that was the furthest thing from my point. It IS a players league when it comes to movement and control and money. Owners are powerless to stop it and very few coaches can control their players. Nobody is turning on the NBA to watch a coach just like in every other league, but in the NBA especially, building teams and movement and teaming up to create threesomes is all about the players. Riley and Gilbert and Jackson aren't controlling what's going on right now. The dominant personalities in the league are in total control. All anyone cares about is where these guys are going, nobody really gives a shit about a coach's contract being extended. Other than that, yes, a stupid post. _
That and not for nothing, some of it was true. I mean, I dont think it should have been publicized, but the whole world knows Lebron "quit" in Boston. Secondly, the way he left Cleveland was disrespectful, it just was. Its Lebrons loss though if he doesnt want to go back to Cleveland. Miami hasnt improved enough, the Spurs would whack them again if they played in the finals. Cleveland might not be that much of an upgrade but it is an upgrade and it offers him youth rather than aging guys like Wade and even Bosh (he might begin to fall off, you never know). Im not endorsing the Cavaliers getting Kevin Love (because Wiggins may end up better, looks like a really good defender, and WILL be millions cheaper for now), but if they did get Love then its a no-brainer for the 2014-2015 season.
Popovich is simply the best because I dont think their is a coach in this league who could have guided the Spurs to a championship. Hell there might not be a coach in NBA history who could have done it. Name one other coach who won despite have no starters above 30 minutes? none. If you threw any other coach out there they would have had Parker, Duncan, Leonard, all playing 30+ minutes which would have probably lead to fatigue and injury. Even when the Spurs backups were in they would play well because Popovich drilled it into their head that they only shoot the best possible shot, if its not good, then dont shoot. Compare that to a team like the Thunder where they set records for just ugly shots taken, (but make up for it because of their talent/defensive abilities).
