PFF named him as an honorable mention on their weekly all-star team, good for a top-four performance against Pittsburgh. Seeing much more promise and better play than we've seen from Winters in 1.25 seasons
Positives so far: They found a competent Safety that can make a play. Mike Vick can still play even at his age. They know Geno is not the Franchise Qb they need. The running game can still do damage and move the chains. No one really important has been IR'd on either side of the ball. The Fanbase is pissed, which means we still care. The GM will choose more wisely in the next draft. (we all hope).
I agree. He looked very good last game. First two were so so though but that is def better then what Winters was giving us. I have faith in the kid and hope he improves. We need him to so we can get rid of Willie this offseason.
Cman, fwiw, I still would've liked to have seen Milliner on the field especially considering the ripple effect it had (putting Allen outside at CB).
I can directly attribute at least 2 turnovers to Winters ( including the turning point in GB on that throw to Sudfeld) getting rocked. The pockets definitely been cleaner since Aboushi has stepped in and he's more violent in the run game. I don't subscribe to PFF but he's a clear positive in my book.
1. Mike Vick at QB. 2.Rex sorta ditched the sweater vest 3.Jace Amaro 4.Mark Sanchez no longer is on the team. 5. 6 more games til Black Monday
1. The running backs. Ivory is an animal and Chris Johnson has his moments and still seems to be a good relief back who we expected to much out of. 2. Jace Amaro is a great pick. I have been to many games sitting in the endzone and while he does have some rookie mistakes to get rid of (few drops) when you see him he has the field presence that few players have. When he catches the ball he knows what to do after the catch to maximize the play. 3. Decker has worked out great. People were bashing us saying that oh he only produced because of manning. Well when you watch the games he clearly is a good receiver. 4. Harvin. I really hope we keep him next year. If he continues to play the way he has been then he will be worth the high salary which we can afford. YAY FOR ROLLOVER MONEY. 5. The sons of anarchy continue to grow and get better (please dont let big mo walk.) 6. Coples and demario davis are not star players but clearly have grown a lot and have become pretty valuable 7. According to NFL analysts Mangold is back to being the best center in the league 8. I have a very strong feeling this off season we will make a splash in FA with corners due to woody telling who ever the Gm is I dont care if you have to overpay a bit. 9. Ideally keep vick another year and draft WR, QB, or OL draft the BPA when we pick. 10. This team has pieces. The problem is the pieces we are missing we are reaaaaally missing. If those pieces can get filled properly it looks like we can turn around faster then most teams who are 2-8 can.
- Aboushi, Percy & Vick making us look like a respectable NFL offense finally. Great plug ins. -Jace is the best rookie TE in the league thus far. - We are top 5 in both rushing offense & defense. (Jets are ranked in the top 10 total defense for whoever made that thread saying we wouldn't be BTW) - Demario Davis took a major leap forward this year.
I was going to add that the team has not quit on Rex as a positive, but then I thought: they have not won for him either though, so I left it off.
1. Good RB's 2. Good Receivers and Amaro 3. Great DL 4. Good LB's 5. Tough read on OL- They've been better with Vick, which makes me think Geno made them look worse than they actually were. 6. Lots of Cap Space
Geez I must be the only one who thought that Winters started showing some improvement before he got hurt. I certainly hope Winters can come back stronger in camp since the Jets really need to get rid of Colon, who is a penalty machine. That being said, the positive is that IF I am right about Winters, and with Aboushi actually playing decent, the Jets should have the ability to shitcan Colon next year. Another positive I want to add to the OP is while he mentioned the front seven, I think Davis in particular has shown improvement. He still has some distance to go to become great, but I think he just might get there based on progress so far. Last year in fact he was disappointing, but definitely better this year. Others have mentioned Smith showing he sucks as a positive, which of course is not the kind of positive the OP meant. But it really is, because my fear was that rather than present a clear cut answer to whether he was good or not, that we might see some ambiguous situation, some middling performance, that would not give a clearcut answer. The FO and Ryan would respond by overhyping the positives, and kick the can down the road another year. Thankfully Smith has sucked so bad they can't do that, so yes, that is a plus.
Dierking, we would like to talk to you soon. If we do not receive a response, we will tattoo FIRE IDZIK on both butt cheeks of Nilgun Ustundag. Please understand, we just want an open dialogue about how to run your brain.
Enough money for the right tattoo artist, the panties could stay on. We have many interested contributors for our cause. Some day, you will bow to our will.
On second thought #2 is a positive, seeing him wearing that reminded me of Joe Walton on the side lines with that clipboard picking his nose!
I think they have responded to all the negative press from fans and media, Chargers game an the Bills game told me they quit, I loved Rex in the beginning he gave life to our team, but he seems to have lost his flare an passion, the time for a change is now
Sadly, there is no doubt about that. Hopefully a change at the top will serve as a positive for the Jets in 2015!
