Harris will probably be here through 2015. I'd like to draft a developmental ILB in the 4th to learn behind him.

I don't think I'd like that. Harris has declined rapidly for whatever reason, and the ILB signal caller of Rex's defense is important. And Harris is a shutmouth, he's shy.

I'd rather Davis be tested as the signal caller and the Jets find a hammer to play the Ted LB position.

ILB draft prospects, there are some talented players, but the depth is awful. I wouldn't mind if they take an ILB in the 2nd or 3rd round to be honest. Chris Borland and Shayne Skov are two names that maybe drafted before the 4th round.

If Harris doesn't take a paycut next off-season, he maybe gone.

Yall like Sidney Rice? I never seen anything outside of that big year wit Favre . Seems like a red zone threat though by how many TDs he gets per year

Personally I think Davis needs to improve more and prove he can lead by example. I want to take an ILB developmental guy this year, and if he is ready to start year 2 along side Davis that's fine with me. I think Harris has a good shot at being a Jet through 2015 though.

This should be a breakout year for Davis. I'm hoping to see big strides in the kid.

Thing is, pairing Harris and Davis is a detriment. When it was Harris and Scott, Harris was the Mike and Scott took on the blockers, so Harris was able to concentrate on calling the defense and shooting the gap, and it always seemed like players were out of position, but that is my opinion.

Now we have Harris playing a lot off lead hitter snaps and Davis shooting the gap most times, and I don't know what to think. Mostly I think that Harris has developed into a poor fit. I'd rather they develop Davis and find a true lead hitter that is young and without mileage that can deal with the damage that comes with that duty for a few years.

I feel that this is less of an issue now, because of the breakout of our young defensive line stars. They all demand a lot more attention in terms of blocks, and I think the linebackers will be relied upon less this year even that last year. Harris can play a spy role a lot of the time, and Davis won't have to take on as many blocks and will have more direct routes to the RB, or more direct routes to the QB when blitzing. It depends on what happens in the draft, but the ILB's are definitely a less significant part of the Jets defense than they were in 2009 and 2010. They are not relied upon nearly as much in either run support or pass rush, so if we draft a guy in the 4th, it may be more realistic for him to be starting by 2015 than I said before.

Unless two of those DL can draw double teams most of the time and offenses don't have a fullback or TE blocking, then one of those guys is going to be feeling with a trench blocker on both passing and rushing downs, it's a reality. I saw way too much of it to be honest.

I like the way Rex uses misdirection to shift the blockers into the wrong gaps, but it's just not enough for my taste to make that front 7 a force to be reckoned with. We're wasting the early prime of an insanely young and great DL with a roughshod LB corps.

I want more speed at the LB position. Outside and Inside. Harris and Pace is slowing us down. I think they both have one more year on this team. Their time here will be very appreciated but its about that time.

I'm surprised we haven't brought in a safety for a visit yet, no way the CS is confident in our current group.

My hope, and that's all it is right now, is that Idzik only brought Pace and Colon back to provide insurance in case young players they pick up in the draft at those positions don't immediately develop.

Harris is a player I fell out of love with a few years ago, once he lost his speed and stopped being a real factor. I feel your pain there, because I'm a little worried that Rex is being too loyal to him.

Harris is a free agent after this year. I'd let him go without a new deal and try to resign him like pace.

Some new blood besides Davis is needed regardless. thats a draft need, I'm sure it can be addressed in the 4th round or something.

That's a kind of squidgy subject.

Usually draft threads are designated entirely for the draft forum, but in the week or so prior to the draft, people start threads like that here, and then the guys who basically live in the draft forum start feeling like somebody stole their security blanket and throw non-stop tantrums for a day or so before the admins overrule them.

Well I don't exactly disagree, it's why I want to draft two LB's in the fourth round. The sooner they can contribute the better.

Idzik has done a good job this offseason so far. Decker, CJ, and Vick. Much more talent. Lost Howard, but got a replacement on the same level.

Now on to the big show.
