Out of all our needs the last thing we need is a running back past his prime,Ivory,Powell and Goodson if healthy are a good tandem,We don't need Chris Johnson
Exactly. This is not MLB with a very soft cap and may the big spenders prosper (although they often don't). It's not the NBA with a soft cap that you can circumvent by paying a luxury tax. The NFL has a hard cap and they've put a lot of thought into how to keep people from abusing it over time.
I'm looking at the stats, Johnson is still producing. He's producing more than Tomlinson did before he left SD and LT had a fine first season with NY for someone over the hill.
On Chris Johnson: who knows if the Jets are really interested but if he's cheap they might take a shot at him. I'm guessing Rex wants to run the ball 550-600 times next season, maybe more.
Bit confusing to me too. Pass up on all the S, CB, G... Then focus on an aging RB? I think Goodson has a ton of potential and unless we are cutting him I see no need whatsoever to get CJ2K. Kind of irrelevant since he probably would want a halfway decent contract and with the way RB contracts are going he won't even sniff that with us.
Apparently we made a hard run at Donald Brown then MJD and now CJ2K. Not sure what the obsession with former stud RBs is. Brown would be my first choice but again we don't need a RB
Realistic: Jets sign CJ cheap geat move by Idzik. Jets don't sign CJ was too expensive not worth it, great non move by Idzik. CJ not signed by Jets, Idzik was never interested and stupid media building false hype. just saying...
Lol not even gonna begin to get my hopes up on more fake interest . Why we keep acting like we want players we know idzik wont sign . Nobody wants his shitty contracts he offers lol
A 1 year prove it deal for Chris Johnson would be perfect. He's at the age now where a 300 carry season might well be all he has left in the tank. If you look at what happened to him last season you see a classic step down season. YPC down at career low. Long run at career low.
I'm becoming fairly certain that the Jets FO isn't leaking any of this information, and these guys are pulling shit out of their asses. I love how Atlanta was Johnson's hot spot, and they came out and said "no interest at all". These writers are figuring out what journalism is all about for a change. Not sure how I feel about Johnson, he was pretty pedestrian last year, which always scares me with a back heading into his 30s. He was also publicly agitated when the Titans signed Greene, would he be content sharing the backfield? He would be a nice compliment to Ivory, but why would he sign with the Jets?
Um... Because we don't need him....... We have Ivory, Powell and Goodson.. Goodson is faster at this point than Chris Johnson.
RBs are the most overrated position. They have a short shelf life, if we even give up a 4th or 5 th round pick I would be mad, AND we would have to pay him. I would take him as a free agent but not for a trade.
So you wouldn't replace Mike Goodson with a guy that has yet to have less than 1,000 rushing yards in a season and catches around 40 balls a year?
Not sure if we would be CJ's first choice as he'd be splitting carries with Ivory. Still, if we can get a short term or even just one year deal with him then why not do it? If it is a four year deal on a decling guy who doesn't like split duties and may not even be an improvement over what we already have that's a different situation entirely.
Damn. I'm just picturing Chris Johnson and Chris Ivory. That could be one hell of a backfield to watch!!
There's a 0% chance any team trades for CJ. Titans have to release him April 7th and his contract is bloated.
