i highly dislike jynxing my comments but.... we tie with SF and the rams for most picks and top 5 in cap space. i feel highly optimistic for the season as far as building is concern
miles austin seems like a post draft signing I.M.O. reach out to him if the draft doesn't fall like we hope and need another guy to challenge for the 1 or 2 wr. so i am hopeful we don't need him
Powells contract is on its last year and would have no cap ramifications to move on from him. Goodson would create a cap hit of 3-4 mill i think. Powell has shown flashes here and there mainly as a 3rd down back outside of what Ivory does better. Goodson if being given a true competing chance will beat powell out for a roster spot.
I like Powell as a player, he is solid, but he is not a game breaker, doesn't do anything exceptionally well, is not blazing fast, doesn't run anyone over. He'd be an ideal 3rd running back, but he doesn't have a role in a dynamic backfield, with a power guy (Ivory) and a blazing fast game breaker. Marty needs a McCoy type in this offense. The closest thing available in free agency is Knowshon Moreno, although his stats are overlooked because he played with Manning. I saw him streak pass defenders on big plays in space, and score some big TDs, I don't know what everyone else saw this year. But anyway, bottom line, I am totally fine with cutting Powell if we pick up either MJD or Moreno. And I am also in favor of drafting a guy like Tre Mason or Marion Grice.
Goodson's cap hit would be a total of just over $800K this year and next if cut, Powell would be $100K this year if cut. Even if we picked up MJD I would hope they would keep Goodson and Powell anyway, MJD slowed down last year and until they see what he has left both of them have contracts that are team friendly at this point.
Evan Mathis is on the trade block. http://m.nbcsports.com/rotoworld-main-headlines/sport/rotoworld-hl-nfl Dude is 33 and looking for a raise, but was was 1st team all-pro last year for Philly @ LG.
I have to point this out as being patently false. MJD being a bigger goal line bruiser? Ivory is 6'0", 222 LBS MJD is 5'7", 210 LBS They may use MJD is a third down back but he would not be used as a bull rusher in lieu of Ivory. He most likely will be catching short passes in the flat, etc...
He can't be on the block. Players don't look at other players contracts and then make decisions about their own that are detrimental to the team's interests. At least if you listen to several posters here advocating for acquiring DJax. Chip Kelly is having college coach problems at this point. He's not completely in control of his player base the way he was at Oregon.
Adam Schefter @AdamSchefter 1m Another sleeper team on Jared Allen: Jets. Rex Ryan spoke to Allen last week, Jets asst. Karl Dunbar coached Allen in Minn. Jets wanted in.
