The more I think about this Jackson trade, the more I like it. I still want the Jets to draft a WR/TE with the first pick though.
I know I have already asked the same question in the thread but if he is already due $10.75M next year but thinks he deserves more what do you think would be adequate compensation for Jackson? I wouldn't mind someone of Jackson's ability but if he is not happy with his current contract then is it really worth it to bring him in and have to deal with another player that wants to rework his contract every 2 years?
With the amount of cap space we have for the next two seasons D jax contract is no big deal. If we do make the trade then i say the first round pick goes to either safety or db. Take a wr/te in the 2nd
in all honestly… the panthers really seem like the perfect fit for jackson…they just lost steve smith.. there ready to win now coming off a big year.. there fan base is killing there gm for making no moves.they need it more then us. i love d-jax tho… but it won't be a idzik like move…youtube some brandon cooks
Well I agree with some of the logic here considering the cap space the Jets have. But it's the two seasons you mention. Jackson is going to look for a big, long term deal and that has some serious ramifications. If Jackson comes to NY and has a productive year I fully expect him to hold out for long term security. Now if they can sign him to a similar deal to Cutler where it's basically a short term deal with a bunch of one year options then sure. But that depends on if they want to structure Wilkerson's contract that same way. Now mind you this is purely based of if the Jets think he's a top 10 WR. Personally I wouldn't touch him. I don't think he's a top WR by any means. He has elite speed but that's about it to me. He's not a #1 WR IMO. He can put #1 WR numbers in certain schemes but a #1WR to me can run a variety of routes at an above average level. Jackson is one dimensional and is basically just like Mike Wallace. For $5M a year sure. But now way is he accepting that deal.

I am just not seeing Jackson coming to the Jets. He is going to hold out next year for sure. We do not need that kind of distraction.
Jets 3rd rounder is also more valuable, and 2015 is the only time the Eagles would ever see DJax again in all reality if they trade him there.
I agree with this. His speed and experience with Vick is tempting but long term it's a really bad move. He's a headcase, a time bomb waiting to go off.
Coles was a #1. He averaged more than 80 catches a year in his prime and always led his team in receptions by a comfortable margin (25 or more). That's the guy the other team tries to shut down and with Coles they couldn't do it.
Yep, the reason the Eagles are looking to trade him is that they have him locked up for 3 years at $30M and he's telling them he won't be happy until they renegotiate his contract, after his big career year last year. I'm pretty neutral on the Vick signing, I think it could help or hurt but basically if Geno isn't ready to go we're screwed next year anyway so how much could it really hurt? With Jackson I'm less neutral. I think the Jets better have a really good plan for him if they get him and I think he better be fully on board with it coming in the door. Trying to make a value play for him without having him 100% behind it is asking for big trouble and I don't mean a year or two down the road.
Why? We have plenty of money. Jackson is a proven star at WR who has played his entire career in our offense, and happens to fill our biggest need. This is the deepest draft in years, particularly at WR, so it's much more advantageous to go BPA (excluding DL), and take a WR in the later rounds.
One season does not make a star. He also had 3 almost 200 yd games. That means in 13 other games, he had 700-800 yds. That's NOT A STAR.
