The only way for us to know for absolute sure before it's official if Vick will sign or Sanchez stays is to read The Daily News and MM....and expect exactly the opposite.

Obviously the Jets were also hoping that the Raiders would offer a late pick for Sanchez despite the contract.

Well, Idzik is heading to the league meetings so next week might be pretty quiet as far as free agency news.

Excuse me kind sir get your facts straight before you go around shitting on others... it was reported they are seeking a 3rd for D Jax I said "here is a crazy thought" meaning there is a slim to none chance of it actually happening I didn't say it can happen.

This surprises me. Backup Qb is one of the best jobs in the NFL. A lot of money for holding clipboards and competing a few weeks a year.

I guess McElroy has his eyes set on something bigger, so good for him.

He could have made his $495K-$595K a year at vet minimum but he has a BA in Business Marketing and a masters in Sports Management. Not sure if he has plans on becoming an agent but I am guessing he just has higher aspirations.

I don't think Jackson is a good fit for our locker room. I think if Chip Kelly wants to move him there's a good reason for it. I'd much rather have Bekham or another drafted guy. According to PFF Kerley ranks in the mid-top level of #2 WRs, so while that sucked when he was our best option, I think he is fine to go into the draft as our #2 guy that moves inside for 3 WR sets. If we draft a receiver that competes well and takes over as WR #2 or #1, Kerley takes the slot role full time. Why waste a pick and a fat chunk of cap space on loudmouth/moneygrabber DJax?

You're right, there is a good reason. He has a big cap hit, they just resigned Riley/Maclin and they don't plan on giving Jackson a longterm deal. We have the caproom and he fits our team like a glove.

Exactly, so we really want to give up a long term contract AND a chunk of the cap AND a draft pick to have this guy? No. So unless your definition of fits like a glove is we could have it so we should have it, no.

What exactly do you think you do with cap space? You use it. People have been whining nonstop about Idzik sitting on all this money... why in the hell would you NOT want him to spend it on a top receiver in the league? Not only does he add another dimension that we don't have, he makes the guys we DO have better.

If it costs a third rounder, you do it. Period. Not a question asked.

Correct me if I'm wrong but he never held out or even threatened to when he was in the last year of his rookie deal?

He never actually held out but he did the passive aggressive (very revis like) comments a few times when questioned about holding out.

Just because a player doesn't end up holding out doesn't mean they aren't a pain in the ass. Jackson made numerous public statements saying he wanted a new contract and was very vocal about it. Not who I want.

No, but it sounds like he has the potential to be that kind, griping two years after he signed a big contract. Mo Wilk could be griping about the Jets not showing him respect by extending him now, but you don't see him doing that, do you? In fact, he said that we wouldn't ever hear/see him doing that. That's the kind of players I want on the team.
