You're taking what I said way too literally. I meant Rex as a head coach and defensive mind. His system historically makes CBs look good. Probably because the majority of the commotion is caused up front, giving the CBs a lot of leeway. Your point about Cro actually proves my point. Two years ago he was one of the best CBs in the league as a guy who relied completely on athleticism.
Damn 'Phins!!! I really wanted Delmas. I'm not worried until Idzik gives me reason to worry. Howard is good, but not great. It won't be the end of the earth if Miami way overpays him and he goes there. I'd prefer to keep him for continuity's sake, and I'm sure that Idzik does to up to a point, but is not gonna give him or any player a lot more than he's worth. If the Phins sign Howard, the Jets will sign Breno Giacomini or someone then address the position in the draft.
Yea Rex was a DL coach and is best at coaching up D-linemen but his system relies heavily on corners and there's been no doubt corners have flourished in his system.
Ah, ok. I wasn't trying to misquote you. I only knew one way to interpret your statement, and that is literally. I agree that Rex's system makes CBs look good.
Im getting so pumped over this Alterraun Verner stuff.... If you think about it he is probably going to build on last year and be a top 5 corner this year. Peterson, Sherman, Revis, Haden, are only more valuable corners than him(aqib and grimes might be better but are banged up and getting older) milliner and him are going to form a great duo for at least 4 years if it happens. Would also like to sign asamoah and sanders and then draft ebron, jmatthews, attaochu, terrence brooks/craig loston in the first 3 rounds. I think if all that happened and we signed howard back, we could be in the running to beat out the pats for AFC East champs. All of this is totally plausible, and thats what gets me excited
Vontae Davis to the colts isn't exactly a done deal, people are saying it might be another team he's looking to sign too.
What am I missing here? Grimes signed with Miami for $8M a year and Shields signed with GB for $10 M a year but many here are hopeful we get Verner for $8M or even $7M. I really don't think so, as much as I would like to see him in green and white. He will require closer to $9M per and then some significant signing bonus.
All good. I probably could have worded it a little better. "Coach up" isn't really how I wanted to see what he did for Milliner. But the point stands. With Mo, Richardson, Coples and Snacks up front, CBs are going to look VERY good in Rex's system. Verner has to see this.
After we either restructure or cut Sanchez, D'Brick will be the highest earner at around 11 million. Mangold is next at 7. I still think Verner wants 10 mil a year and he will get it from someone.
SAME I LITERALLY CANT WAIT ANY LONGER MY DREAM RIGHT AT 4 JETS SIGN ALTERAUN VERNER 5 y/40 mil JETS SIGN JARIUS BYRD 5y/40mil Would be a dream come true But i trust idzik whatever he chooses to do
Given the current market he'll almost definitely get $10m from someone. It's just interesting to see what his thought process is on the money situation. The Jets are going to have to pay for impact FA's so I have no problem with giving it to a young proven baller.
Via Tony Pauline Word amongst insiders is the New York Jets are going hard after cornerback Vontae Davis.
Would yall be comfortable with Milliner starting that year as our #1 after he gets some real offseason workouts and training camp in? He didnt get that luxury last year
That Sucks, I'm not a huge fan. Lateral or negative move from Cromartie Imo. If we get Davis we need Byrd.
