Sarcasm, but half the board thinks everyone sucks, the other half think everyone is great... Just heading off the inevitable argument.
Haha -- fair enough. Milliner, Walls, Allen, and Bush are all young players (less so with Wilson). Certainly, they're going to get burned and beat, but there's evidence to rationally conclude that the secondary might -- just might -- be okay. Who knows though.
I don't think we take another first round CB, but I didn't think we'd need too either. BPA... not a D-lineman.
Can anyone confirm what the “carryover” rule is in the new CBA is in regards to the salary cap? My understanding is that a team has to spend 89% of the salary cap, If true that means the Jets have to spend at least $1118,000,000.00 in the 2014 season, and the balance ($15,000,000.00) can be carried over and added to next year’s cap, but the minimum spending will be higher. Example: 133 mil salary cap (2015) + the 15 mil that rolled over (2014) = 148 Salary cap. 148 mil X .89 % = 131.72 that the Jets will have to spend in 2015. Does this sound right? Note that this includes FA’s, signing draft picks, and extensions. With that being said, this year’s cap number is 133 mil. 89 % of that is 118.37 mil that the Jets have to spend to sign FA’s and draft picks. Right now we are about 27.5 mill under the cap, and if we cut Sanchez that’s another let’s say 7.5 mil bringing the total to 35 Mil under the cap. 133 mil (2014 Cap #) – 35 Mil (under the cap) = 98 Mill. 118.37 (cap floor that we have to spend by rule) - 98 Mil (Jets current Salary Cap # once Sanchez is released) = 20.37 Mil we still “Have to Spend” , and the rest can be rolled over to 2015.
@BrianCoz: Jets have shown interest in free agent WR Jacoby Ford, according to a source. Ford played for Jets WR coach Sanjay Lal in Oakland. #nyj Personally id rather have Clyde Gates
I'm starting to think that maybe (since there are more WRs than CBs in this draft) that drafting "defense" with our first pick wouldn't be the end of the world should someone with Gilbert's athletic chops drop to #18. I could even see a defense/offense flip-flop the first 4 rounds with Vandy WR Matthews in the 2nd, Ga. Tech. OLB Attaochu in the 3rd and then Iowa TE Fiedorowicz and Furman OG Dozier with their pair of #4th round picks. At the same time, with everyone and their sister calling for "offensive weapons," I could see Jet fans at Radio City Music Hall drowning out Goodell as soon as he sez: "with the #18th pick, the New York Jets select Justin Gilbert, CORNERBACK, Okla........" and tearing up the seats. : )
Really?Jacoby Ford?this is what we are gonna do now?Golden Tate was on the market but our answer for punt returner and wr is Jacoby Ford?I pray this isn't true
Yea but the fans there don't know shit about that game... I really want Brandon Cooks though as he feel like he can be a game changer and would work well with Decker and Kerley. Think Percy Harvin 2.0... Just read on twitter that we are interested in Jacoby Ford so there is that... Would honestly really them rather go hard for DRC right now, and then we don't have to worry about corner come May... This would let us go and get a great receiver and not worry about there being nobody left with our 2nd rounder.
We're on the same page, I like Cooks (and Beckham Jr.) over Lee. And yes, it seems half the yahoos at Radio City are clueless numbnuts there just to make noise and get their 15 seconds on ESPN. : )
Kristian Dyer @KristianRDyer 17m A source w/in the Jets organization just told me "Isn't close to panic mode. Still good value in free agency and moving forward." #nyjets
I think Lee is a bust waiting to happen I'm totally ok with going D in the first and WR/TE in 2 and 3
