I bet there are some that thought starting Antonio Allen would be a disaster too. If anything Walls has earned the right for a look see as a full time starter. In the limited opportunites he has had (tail end of 2012 and some spot duty in 2013), he's been far from disasterous.
Just to add to this ... The Jets have had 1 recent exception to this line of thinking and that was LT, who at age 31 bounced back from a 3.3 ypc season to an impressive 4.2 with the Jets. But the following year came back down to below avg at 3.7 But if you remember that season (10), all of LTs big games were in the first 6-8 weeks, he did nothing remarkable after that aside from his 3 postseason tds (the td reception against ne in the playoffs was amazing). But anyway, I suppose its FEASIBLE to think MJD could have a brief rejuvenation, but I would not expect much for long.
I think the difference with Jax and if we do sign him... he was THE guy last year, he would be coming here as a situational back
I got one that ppl would like even worse; bring back Vlad! Before the penalties derailed him, it looked like the light was coming on.
MJD's 3.4 yards per carry were a product of his horrible offensive line, teams stacking the box against him since they were facing CHAD HENNE and BLAINE GABBERT, and him just getting acclimated from a decimating lisfranc injury. Moreno's YPC was good because Peyton knew when to ran the ball, and teams were not stacking the box against Moreno because every receiver in Denver's offense was a potent pass catcher. The question is, does MJD have too much pride to be purely a situation back at this point in his career? I think that is what is holding up us signing him, because he probably doesn't want to feel like second fiddle to Ivory.
Hope this isn't just Rex being Rex as far as Giant/Jet rivalry goes. We do need DRC on our team, that's for sure.
If you don't have a Pro Bowl-caliber QB, you're rebuilding. End of story. Because you're not winning a Super Bowl without one (or the 85 Bears Defense and Running game).
Dan Hanzus @DanHanzus As @RapSheet notes, DRC already took physical with Jets. He'll take one with Giants tomorrow. #keepcalmandcarryon
Yeah but spot duty is a lot different then getting 90% of the snaps. He has earned the right to compete for the job at camp, nothing more than that. Presently he's probably got a good chance at starting or being the 3rd guy in. Maybe it won't be a disaster but I know I would feel a lot more comfortable with a veteran CB playing alongside Milliner and Walls doesn't fit that bill.
Yea he tries to create news instead of just report it. Probably because he sucks dick at investigative journalism.
I hope today we sign a CB, whether it's Cro or DRC I am good either way. If we can address that and backup QB soon that would be nice too. Not really sure who is out there right now other than Vick. I don't think Schaub has been cut yet and I know a lot of people talk about him as a possibility.
Mehta & cimini seem like they hate on the jets every article.. Like why even write for a team u dont like ? Faithfully at that..
I think their take is that in order to be taken seriously in the NY market (by their peers and employers more than fans), they need to have an unbiased approach. So in order to ensure they are perceived as unbiased, they stay to the pessimistic side of neutral, which comes across to the fanbase as hating. That said, it does seem like MM makes up a bunch of stuff or cites sources that don't know anything. Like he asks his Mom to read a cue card and then quotes her as a 'credible source'.
I think we are a little too sensitive to media criticism, these writers have sources. some better than others and they get info fro those folks and publish. some may be a smokescreen, some may be real but they are running w/ info they get. It's a very competitive business.
DRC is obviously playing us against each other and I would rather they get him then overpay him. Especially after reading this. "The Broncos gave Rodgers-Cromartie the tough-love approach when they signed him last March. The defensive coaches, especially defensive coordinator Jack Del Rio, said they would coach him hard to get him to play better. Rodgers-Cromartie said that was what he was looking for, and he was better this past season for the Broncos than he had played in his two years with the Eagles. He tied for the team lead in interceptions with three and played, for the most part, in the right cornerback spot." http://espn.go.com/new-york/nfl/sto...rs-cromartie-undergo-physical-new-york-giants
