Personally i think ( and hate to ride this bandwagon) I think Morenos number are exaggerated by the fact people had to respect Peyton so much. When you look at Moreno at the type of back he is i don't think he would be much better then Ivory in our offense. MJD was a very Dangerous back at one point and some people think he play went down not only to his playing situation in jac but also because he was very un happy down there. Maybe they think a change of scenery will spark the bowling ball he use to be? Add in his great pass blocking skills his receiving abilities and the fact he will probably not command a pay day like moreno. Sounds like an Idzik special to me.
As for Guard, I know ppl arent going to like this ... lol ... but IF they choose not to bring back Colon, and assuming there is no 1st round guard like Cooper last year, they could always sign Richie Incognito on the cheap. He's a heckuva run blocker, and don't worry ... I'm sure Brick and Mangold won't let him bully young guys into paying for hooker parties lol
Finley is one safety tackle away from not walking again. and Moreno is nothing like MJD in space. Nothing at all. Moreno was a product of Manning last year because everyone was terrified of the passing game. MJD is in no way like Ivory...Ivory cannot juke out people like MJD can. How are you people so clueless?
And you have? Like you are already alluding, I much rather have a young guy out there making mistakes while learning from them than an overpaid vetertan (see Allen and Reed). Besides the strength of this defense is the front 7. If they are doing their job, Walls and Milliner just have to be servicable (see Giants 2 SuperBowl runs).
Maybe if you only include offensive weapons. Lee/Cooks/ODB+Decker+Kerley+Hill+Nelson is around Braylon+Cotchery and crew. Slightly worse than Braylon+Holmes+Cotchery of 2010. TEs are about a wash. RBs are also about a wash with a slight advantage to the '09/10 group. The huge difference is the OL. We had the best OL in the league (at worst top 5) those years. We have nowhere near that currently.
I did before we signed him. Been watching walls since his ND days. Hes still young and im glad we resigned him but in no way is he a full time starter.
Any organization worth anything isn't giving Incognito even the veteran's minimum. Only a very desperate non-contender will sign him. There are still guards left to be had in Uche Nwaneri and Colon given his rehab goes well.
He was decent on screen passes lol more than we can say for Hill. Hill will need to earn his spot in training camp otherwise its bye-bye
Adding Moreno to Ivory & Powell makes no sense. Ivory and Powell are both good 1st and2nd down backs. The Jets need a 3rd down back. MJD has always been one of he better receiving backs in he NFL and that role would fit him well at this stage, just as it did for LT here. Moreno adds nothing to the mix that the Jets don't already have in Ivory and Powell.
At least Moreno had enough sense to bat down that errant throw from Manning that could have turned into a pick-six. Oh wait...he just stared at it.
Incognito is the last person in the NFL that the Jets sign. He is human trash and would bring the back the circus atmosphere that Idzik is trying so desperately and successfully to end and avoid. I hope you were joking.
Clueless? Watch it with the insult bud, nobody is making personal attacks at you. And I am not clueless, in fact I can tell you that MJD's YPC last year were an ANEMIC 3.4 ypc. Which is BAD even on a ROTTEN football team, and that paltry number raises red flags to GMS everywhere. There is too much mileage on his legs to expect anything. I can also tell you that Moreno put up 4.3 ypc, caught 58 balls and found the end zone 13 times. Also had 10 plays of over 20 yards to MJD's 5 (although MJD did have 2 plays of 40+ yds) PEyton or not, I'd go with Moreno. And PS Addai or D.Brown never put up those numbers with Manning. A coach like MMorhinweg has to be creative and come up with schemes to get Moreno in space.
I was half joking .... I also think he's trash. I read his disgusting texts. But if we were desparate for a Guard and he was available, I'd sign him for 1 year. Trust me, I do know that it won't happen we will be brining back Colon I feel.
I just think Moreno has more potential and a higher ceiling at this point than MJD, and last year's stats back up that theory. I know Moreno piled up some numbers overall, but I like to look at YPC. Most respected analysts say that this is really the key stat to measure any running back. And at 3.4 ypc for MJD ... Well that was just brutal. Rbs generally don't bounce back from that as they approach 30 yrs old.
