I really hope we go after Chris Clemons, Uche Nwaneri, and though most of you won't like it, Miles Austin. At this point these guys seem possible for us to get. Maybe we look into signing Jabari Greer at corner despite his injury in November.

I'd kick the can on Miles Austin. How old is he anyway? 31? Been injured? He'd cost next to nothing, bring him into camp.

Yeah, I'm talking summer deals here on the gaping holes issues. By the time camp opens the Jets will have an idea if either of the developmental OG's from last year is a likely candidate for this year. They'll have their draft picks signed and they'll be able to evaluate the real problem areas. That's when you go looking at the veteran free agents still standing and sign a guy you know can do the job.

By then Colon's arm will have healed and if he can pass a physical and you need him he's a no-brainer.

You'd think bringing Colon back is a no brainer, unless they loved what they saw from Will Campbell or Aboushi last year.

I know right? he shouldn't be expensive, we can try to rely on our late draft picks too, but shouldn't there be a stop gap for that possibility?

what possible reason could the jets have to not sign him by no-

... oh yeah, he hurt his arm... yeah its probably best we wait till thats settled to- yeah, okay....

Does anyone think there is some sort of blockbuster trade/s that Idz has in the plans and that may be why we're not going after many FA's?

this board is getting a little ridiculous with all this negativity.. We sign someone "HOW CAN YOU OVERPAY SOMEONE, IDZIK YOU ARE NOT BUILDING THROUGH THE DRAFT"

we dont sign people " WE ARE SO FAR UNDER THE CAP IDZIK WHAT ARE YOU DOING, WORST OFFSEASON EVER"

They have to bring back Colon and Cromartie at this point. Do we want to rely on rookies and 2nd yrs at those crucial spots in 2014? I don't.

Do you remember the home game against the Bills this past year? We had a 4th quarter lead and Wilson just tried to single handedly give up the damn game. He let his temper get the best of him and if I recall correctly he had something like 5 penalties on 6 consecutive plays vs Stevie Johnson.

One of the things that drives me nuts about Wilson is 4 yrs in this lge and he still doesn't know how to turn his head and look for the football. So many times he could have had a pick or passed defensed if he just looked back. Drives me crazy with this guy!!

Cro didn't sign with the Cards yet. I have to wonder if he's on his way back to NY because he knows what his cousin is going to do....

    What about Seahawks?

    Pete Carroll --> 7-9 --> 7-9 (yet playoffs) --> 11-5 --> Super Bowl

Two of those penalties were flops by Stevie J 1 was questionable but that is also the only time i have seen K will loose his head n the field.
He normally is very solid in that aspect never losing his cool or confidence.

Yes, but I'm saying you don't have to go through a multi year overhaul process to become contenders. See 2008 Cardinals, 2009 Jets, 2013 Eagles, 2012 Vikings. etc ... Those teams didnt win the superbowl but they got to the dance after non playoff and in some cases terrible seasons, and some of them came within a hair of being champs (08 Cards). Add 2013 Chiefs to the list.

For the record, I approve bringing Pace back. I am just unhappy with the contract.

I definitely agree; especially looking at the 49ers and how quick their turnaround came.

I just don't think Idzik is following suit; I think he is deliberately, meticulously following the path of his former team... it may work out; it might not, but it explains a lot of his actions so far as GM. Long rebuilds can happen; the rebuilders just have to not get fired before the team becomes a contender.
