The very troubling aspect is NE jumped by leaps and bounds over us and the rest of the division. Two high quality cb's, a quality rec (LeFell) and resigned Edelman. We have done zilch compared to them. On we doing the right thing? For now I would say no. Two years down the road we may be way better but who knows. I for one am a little concerned over the FO. In idzik we trust sounds an awful lot like the jints chant, "in Reese we trust". That alone gets me sick.

DRC would hurt his cousin's chances of getting back on the team, we would have to take both Cro's if we want him. You know Antonio is communicating with DRC and trying to push his stock up. What troubles me is he turned down a long term deal with the Bronco's, doesn't make sense.

Why should the Jets give away information that reveal their intentions moving forward this off-season? What possible competitive advantage could they gain from doing so?

John Idzik has clearly stated on multiple occasions now that the Jets will be building through the draft and signing free agents to supplement that strategy.

What do you want him to do? Lay it all out for you and everybody else so that players and other teams have the maximum knowledge of the Jets intentions and can act accordingly? You want him to do this so you can feel better about the team?

    Talk about an entitled fan.

I seriously don't understand why fans are freaking out over the lack of spending.

It isn't the lack of spending it is the lack of improvement despite having the cap space to improve. The lack of spending is more of annoyance in the sense that it doesn't benefit us in anyway.

Who's left on the CB market? Also how much is DRC going to get roughly? $6mil/year?

You guys sound like Giants fans before the 2011 season. "Why aren't we resigning Kevin Boss" "Why aren't we resigning Steve Smith" "omg fire Jerry Reis" "No Moves"

Allow Idzik do his thing and evaluate him after the 2014 season.

For me it's not a lack of spending that's got me bothered it's more about improving this squad over last years.
When you cut you're quote unquote , best CB in a secondary that was the Achilles heel of the defense and don't replace him with better talent, it gets a bit frustrating

We have improved, just by having less turnovers/more TDs which I fully expect to happen.

This comment displays an extraordinary lack of understanding of how the cap and competitive balance really work.

But we don't have a great QB, so what you do is fill the roster with talent. A top 5 defense, a brute O-line and the best receivers available. One or two year rentals does not hamper your building through the draft or resigning our own players down the road.

And you are going to explain that, right? We all want to know how downgrading our RT, cutting our best CB and trading one mid-level WR for another improves us.

The Jets are not doing anything wrong with free agency now. The worst thing the Jets could do is sign a bunch of free agents so the instant gratification crowd can get offseason boners.

I am a big proponent of how the Packers and Steelers build. The Jets act more like them and I will be happy.

In a nutshell: it's not what you spend, it's who you spend it on.

"omg the Eagles signed Steve Smith" "OMg the Eagles signed Nnamdi Asomougha" "OMg we arent resigning Kevin Boss or Steve Smith, we have no targets" "Eagles signed DRC" "Vince Youngs saying the Eagles are the dream team"......blah blah blah.

Thats the perfect example. Giants let everyone leave, didnt sign anyone, Eagles pull in all these players and have what was deemed a great free agency. We all know what the final result was so please dont get caught up in who the Jets dont sign.

Yes, one or two year rentals can hamper your building through the draft and re-signing your own players down the road.

When you fill a position with a short-term vet it removes the pressure to try to find a long-term solution at the position. It camouflages the hole and makes it look like less of a problem. This leads to not drafting an OLB in the top 5 rounds over a 5 year period as you consistently fill the hole with vets and eventually wind up with only a 33 year old and a converted DT as your options out there. It leads to not drafting a safety in the top 5 rounds over an 8 year period and winding up trying to find your FS from a a never-ending progression of over-the-hill vets and low round strong safeties.

The re-signing issue is simple. No home grown player is going to take less than a free agent of similar skills coming in the door. That's openers in the negotiations. So when you overpay to bring in an above average player you really screw yourself with your young stars down the road.
