I would consider signing Rashad Jennings too if the price is right.

Alterraun Verner is an awful fit for the Jets btw. Verner fits a zone defense more-so then a man to man defense.

Unless, the Jets are transitioning to a zone defense, then Verner is not a good fit. Titans primarily played in a zone defense last season, now they are going to a man-to-man defense which is why they are letting him test FA.

I don't know why people are hating on Cro. I think he can come back healthy next season and play well. We should be restructuring his contract.

no there letting him test the market because they have a corner on the roster making 8+ mill a season and have two other young prospects that will compete.. there not going to tie up 18-20 mill on cornerbacks

Where are you getting 18-20? He's not asking for 10 / 11 mil. Locking up 2 great CBs for 16 mil isn't that bad. Especially since he's only 25.

If I were the Titans, I would easily resign Verner and cut Michael Griffin (Safety).

I also, saw some information that he does have experience in Man coverage, I would like to know exactly how much.

Someone's gotta pay Byrd it should be us. We should spend the big bucks on a 4 year deal that makes him cuttable after 3.. everyone wins. Make it happen Idzik! I can't wait for free agency to start tomorrow Jets have so many cards.

Nobody hates Cro, they hate his age/cap number combination. He may not want to re-sign until he tests free agency and the Jets would know that a lot better than we do. If he doesn't then they are absolutely doing the right thing lining up his replacement.

I'd have no problem with signing him to a 1 year prove it deal. Let him earn a big multi-year contract. The ability isn't the question with Nicks. It's his consistency, or lack thereof, as well as his recent injury concerns over the last year plus.

    Agreed.

If we can restructure him to a 6M cap hit i would be fine with a healthy Cro and Dee.

I don't think nicks would want to sign a one year deal with the jets.

He would most likely want to go to a better offense to raise his value.

From what Im reading on the rumor front it looks like the Patriots are making a grab at Nicks.

Cromartie is an incredible athlete who relies too much on his athleticism to make up for his lack of technical prowess. For that reason I think he's going to go downhill very quickly when his body starts declining on him. He will be 30 when the season starts and I don't think it's unreasonable to think he's going to start to descend sooner rather than later. It's possible he's already started on the downward curve of his career. I think that saying about getting rid of someone a year too early rather than a year too late applies here if we can find a viable younger replacement.

I agree but if we can keep Cromartie around for the right price, I would do it. Cromartie did take a huge step back after a 2012 campaign in which he was really good. I do believe though if the Jets fixed the safety problem, it would help the corner backs a lot. In 2012 when we had Bell and Landry it took a ton of pressure off Cromartie because he knew if he screwed up, the safeties had his back. Last year the safeties did not give that much support or reliance.

Ive never played corner but I have to believe that if you are surrounded by good safety play it makes things a lot easier.

Yeah ive been hearing he will take a one year deal so he can get paid next offseason. He probably will end up in New England, New Orleans, or Denver if someone does give him a good multi year deal

Its a questionable move on his part though, he might be better served looking for the long term deal. I recall a receiver by the name of Steve Smith did the same thing a couple seasons ago, ended up on the eagles on a one year deal and is now out of the league at the age of 28.
