To redo Wilfork they have to get him to agree to a contract extension. This is likely Wilfork's last deal at 32. That's not an easy redo. It requires real NEW money in his deal not just shifting stuff around. McCourty is also headed into his 2nd contract next year. That's not a redo. That's getting him to give up his big shot at free agency. No way he is doing that unless the Pats pay a premium. They're going to need to look elsewhere or throw a bunch of cash at those guys. The Revis move has big implications. The odds on them cutting one of the above are about the same as managing to work out the details.
Well Jets got Martin Patriots won a Super Bowl. Time for payback. Unfortunately, the team will probably still have a ton of holes next year. Cromartie just doesn't do it for me anymore and is there really anybody else out there for them to sign. They are spending fucking the entire day with Eric Decker while every other team has signed 3 or 4 players. Boggles my mind.
“@RichCimini: Oh, by the way, on the Eric Decker front: He's still in NJ, having dinner with #Jets personnel. Jets making push to sign WR.”
This Revis infatuation has got to stop;. He is nothing but a selfish mercenary asshole. First of all, if the Jets didn't trade him last year, he would have played out his contract and been a free agent this year and the Jets would have nothing to show for him. Second, the Jets are trying to build a team. The Pats are making a one year push. How would signing Revis to a one year deal be a good thing for the Jets??? Are the Jets making a one year run at the SB this year? Do you want to go through the Revis contract issue year after year. Think about it. The guy has raised contract issues every single year of his NFL career. I had enough of him in 2010. He threatens a hold out every year. Last year was ridiculous. This year he is betting on himself and hoping that he has a better season and can command $15+ million again (as the cap goes up again). The Jets need young players who want to be here. I never liked Revis the person or the "business man" and it doesn't take much to realize that no CB is worth that kind of money when teams are using 4-5 wideouts/tight ends on passing downs. Revis can only cover one. I'd rather get to the passer with a pass rush than spend all this money to cover one receiver. As for him going to the Pats, I think its a good thing. I hope it ends the irrational Revis worship by Jets fans. And it eats up the Pats cap. They still have holes in rush defense and at receiver. Revis was never ever coming back here after the way he jerked the Jets around for 6 years and made a fortune doing it. Good bye MEVI$$$$$$$$$.
And you know eventually we are going to read a tweet that says something along the lines of "Eric Decker leaves New York without signing a contract." lol Watching Revis go to the Pats is tough, but there ares still good players out there for us to sign. I just hope we eventually start pulling the trigger on some of them. Breno was a nice start.
No different than the Isles or Mets for me. I live in greatest city in the world and all the teams I root for conduct themselves financially like the Miami Marlins.... SMH...
We will be fine. The Patriots won't beat a Denver because the signed Revis, it's only one year, and the jets weren't going anywhere close to playing in a division Championship with him.
