Of course, up until now we have had zero indication that the Patriots or Jets have serious interest. Everything has come out of the Revis side which means one thing; they are trying to drive up the price by creating a market. Revis's agents arent stupid people, they know the jets have as much as any team to spend practically. The Patriots right now according to the Boston Herald have $15 million free in cap space. That will not be enough to bring Revis in because they have other needs and still have to pay the draft picks. They can move parts around though but they dont have the flexibility that the New York Jets have. The Patriots though, if they wanted to, could sign Revis but it would practically limit them from making any other moves.
Any idea how long it will take for the news to break? My phone is going to die in like 5 minutes and I think I'm starting to go crazy.
Brandon Weeden already getting cut. Crazy how the Browns draft Trent and Weeden and both are gone although the Trent trade saved face.
For you guys that don't want Vick as a backup how about this beast (sarcasm) @ESPNNFL: THIS JUST IN: The Cleveland Browns will be releasing 2012 1st round pick, QB Brandon Weeden. (ESPN/Media Reports) http://t.co/EsFkEBvFnT
I want Revis as much as anybody and I don't want him going to NE more than most but if he does it will do little for their SB chances and not anymore than it would for ours. NE has to replace Edelman and if they want to spend every penny they have on a CB let them do it.
I believe we are in position now to pay Revis. If you look at this team, we actually have a need for a CB, we did not last year entirely because we drafted Dee. We also have the money to fit Revis in while a couple years ago we didnt have the room.
I'll definitely be willing to give Revis 12m but that's maximum and I would frontload it to this year so the rest of it is roughly 10m average for the rest of it.
