nah, Peyton will be great anywhere(until Jan/Feb) but Decker is clearly a very talented player. peyton isn't a dummy, he chose Den for a reason and one of them was Decker.
I just think Decker will be avg at best maybe a 700 yard type guy here in NY and he isn't worth what he will get.
I agree with you, although I still think with Smith at Qb, there will be tons of questions what kind of productivity we will see out of hte passing game no matter who the receivers are. I don't buy that the only problem with the Jet O is lack of talent at wideout. To be clear i still hope the jets get a vet Qb who will be an upgrade over Smith.
OK, thanks. I hadn't heard that about our scouts and his pro day. Hopefully, they were just doing their due diligence for possibly taking him in the 2nd round.
I think if we don't fix the QB solution and don't add other WRs or TE, then yeah. But if the QB position improves and we get an additional target or two, I could Decker being a very good WR for us.
thats what I'm hoping and that idzik doesn't view him different and idzik doesn't grade him as one of their top 10 on their big board meaning he would be at the top come our pick
And considering we are passing the ball 20 times a game, we are looking at paying a guy 7 million that will average 3 catches a game.
This is just to show an example. Decker in 2011, pre Manning, would have led the Jets this year in yards. Led the Jets in receptions. Led the Jets in receiving TDs. That was with the before mentioned Kyle Orton benched year and Tebow midseason year. I worded that poorly. Basically Decker's 2011 stats would have made him the best Jets WR here. So even before Manning, he would be an upgrade.

But a WR who wants to put up numbers wouldn't though is my point. Tate has improved every year in the league, was the best YAC guy in the league last year, caught 70% of the passes thrown at him. And would most likely come cheaper then Decker. I just think Decker has inflated numbers.
