Pretty useless chart since it does not include all the money each player is actually making or made. Johnson shows at $5M when his average per year is actually over $18M
But when has Decker ever been a number 1? Last year Nicks played 15 games while battling injuries and put up 800+ yards. He was still effective.
Who says he will be our number 1?! If we go into this draft and get a receiver, how do you know that guy doesn't become our number one?
to be fair he put up good #s in 2011 but not all came w/ Tebow. w/ Tebow: 23-346, 15 avg, 4 TDs w/ Orton: 21-266, 12.7, 4 TDs good #s w/ 2 bad QB but even if they weren't he's gotten so much better, much like Garcon w/ Peyton. he's going to be a good player for whatever team he signs w/. He is not a #1, he's not going to catch 90 balls a year but he should give us Braylon like #s which would be huge.
Okay I almost want him here now just so you pro Decker fans can see first hand how overrated he really is.
Do you read?awful the last two seasons last year especially.4 tds in last two seasons combined.Hakeem nicks has a total of 4 TDs in last two years and you wanna bring him in.He caught zero last year. His production has declined dramacticlly since 2011
@Steiny31: Eric Decker's number of TDs this year: 11 Total number of TDs for #Jets WRs combined this season: 7
a big reason why is b/c Nicks commands most of the attention. Cruz is a great slot guy, best in the game but watch when he is their #1 this year.
ZOMG $X Million for that player. OVERPAYMENT OMG $XY Million for that player...I don't want to overpay Shit, it's week 1 and we have no players since we, unlike every other team, decided not to overpay More often than not you have to overpay for quality this guy is an overpayment, that guy is an overpayment. WE HAVE TO SIGN SOMEBODY EVENTUALLY
And he was always making plays in the secondary as well. Maybe because he was being targeted, but from my recollection he was a sure tackler and good cover guy. There were plenty of times I was yelling to have him start over Milliner and Wilson. I'm sad to see him go. Nice depth player to have.
Because you dont pay #3 WRs that kind of money??? He's a JAG that's made to look better thanks to Manning. Hell Kerley would put up the same stats playing under Manning. This would be a classic SOJ move.
Overrated stat, most of Nicks TDs come from the long passes, he had long passes, they just didn't turn into TDs like they did in the past.
Yeah, and that was when he was Tebow's number one option. Obviously, Demaryius Thomas overshadowed him once he matured and Peyton came, but still the notion that he hasn't ever dealt with the most focus is unrealistic. Let's be honest, none of us have watched the Broncos religiously and the coverages against them. Like some posters have pointed out recently, Decker isn't the only thing we would do at WR if we got him. The idea is to have many options, so that doubling one guy doesn't dismantle the whole offensive gameplan. The issue is getting him to sign at a reasonable number versus his predicted value to our team.
Peyton is just the greatest! he makes so many bad players great. I guess that is why w/ 2 terrible QBs Decker scored 8 TDs in 2011 and averaged 14 yds per rec.
So why don't we wait and see what he signs for first? People saying they don't want him without knowing what he is looking for. Besides, some people have a really poor understanding of the ever increasing costs of putting guys on a football field. I swear we could sign him to $100k over vet minimum and there would still be people saying it's too much. Relax: We have piles of cap space, the cap is likely going to continue to increase, we have needs that we can fill...so why not do it? Besides, lots of teams sign guys to bad contracts and cut them in a few years and it doesn't devastate the franchise (i.e. Cromartie, Sanchez, Holmes, etc.). Personally I would rather sign a guy worth $6mil a year to a $8mil a year contract and have a pretty solid player than sign a guy worth $2mil to a $2mil contract and be sitting on about $6mil of cap space for nothing.
