I would like a Safety and a LB who can cover a TE.

I think Jairus Byrd would be great in a Rex Ryan defense. He would get us some turnovers.

Not going to happen, wants to be the top paid Safety. If he wasn't the second coming of Mevi$ then I'd say yes. Seems to be a bit of a douche as well.

I would like to add that we MUST go OL early in the draft as well with 1 of our first 4 picks for sure. not to mention the TB pick might be a 4th since they might cut Revis. and I still think we need a RB to bring in to the mix as well. great read :)

and he deserves top of the market safety money, just like revis deserved top CB money

the problem with revis is he didnt want top CB money, he wanted top non-QB money

i think your numbers are off ... were about $20 mill under before cutting sanchez, holmes, and cro

also, coples cant be extended until after his third season and we need to re-sign howard

You are correct- I corrected myself in a later post though. The Jets can be nearly $50m under the cap next year without cutting anyone that important except possibly Cro. I think Cro is done as a good/great CB but if his decline is from injuries maybe you keep him, but it's risky.

Howard does need to be re-signed, but right tackles are relatively cheap- they cost like half as much as left tackles.

Some others will need to be re-signed too but the Jets have plenty of cap space to extend everyone worth extending (especially Mo), while still getting some mid range free agents to plug up multiple weaknesses. I think it's most important to address WR and CB next year through free agency- if those are fixed the team becomes much better, though holes may pop up elsewhere.
