what do ya'll think of the new proposed rules? other proposed rule changes (less impactful): 1. Eliminating the prohibition against dunking in warm-ups. 2. When officials review a potential flagrant foul, any faking by the allegedly fouled player will be penalized. 3. Minor technical fouls, such as hanging on the rim, will be penalized by one free throw. 4. Elimination of the five-second closely guarded rule. 5. Allowing officials to use reviews to check if the shot clock has been violated.
I like them outside of #4 and 5. there are too many reviews already. also, I'd like to see flopping penalties.
I don't really like the one less timeout. CBB is starved for offense/good play, having one less opportunity for coaches to draw up a play hurts that even more does it not? most of the changes are fine though IMO though I worry about some of them creating additional foul calls. The last thing CBB needs is more shooting at the foul line. and call me old school, but I like that players weren't allowed to dunk in warmups. although thats not a big deal
Carolina fans always complain Roy never calls TOs so it shouldn't be an adjustment but I think sometimes coaches control too much. Let the players play. I don't think we need more T's. unless it is flagrant no need to penalize briefly hanging on the rim.
believe me, if theres anyone who gets pissed off about the hanging on the rim technical its me. A late hanging on the rim technical cost my alma mater a historic upset in the 2000 NCAA tournament vs. Tayshawn Prince led-Kentucky, and a shot at Syracuse - - where they would've beaten them
My memory is foggy, is your alma mater Holy Cross? No wait is it St Bonaventure? I remember that game, went into OT didn't it I don't like taking out the 5 second rule, it's a good rule and forces teams to move the ball around.
St. Bonaventure...and you are right- it was Double OT loss vs. Kentucky in their first tourney appearance in 23 years. It was a great game... classic march madness. Tayshawn Prince hit a 3 with seconds remaining to send it to OT. At the end of the 1st OT, with St. Bona down 3, a Bona player was fouled shooting a 3 at the buzzer. 55% Free Throw shooter at the line with no time left and he buried all 3.. Bona missed a 3 with seconds remaining in the double OT to lose. Prince was an animal that day
Arizona, Cal, and Ore are going to be stacked in talent next year. All could make deep tourney along with UCLA and maybe Ore State. I haven't seen this much talent in the league in a while.
UNC received NOA(notice of allegations) from NCAA today. info yet to be released but its sounding good for Men's basketball which will disappoint many. http://northcarolina.scout.com/story/1548538-unc-receives-noa?s=78
apparently UK is postponing series w/ Carolina again this year. Interesting how the 2 weakest teams of Cal era both back out for that season from playing Carolina.
They have anything about allowing scholar-athletes to 'attend' fake classes? .........hint...hint.... : )
Come on! Even UNC professors have been critical of the "Academic Standards" surrounding the men's basketball program for years. 70 percent of former UNC players could have future careers as "key grips" in off Broadway stage productions.
http://deadspin.com/garrick-sherman...ource=deadspin_facebook&utm_medium=socialflow Too bad this wasn't a Dooke player. I would love to hear of all the illegal crap that goes on at that school. Coach K just seems like a sneaky little prick who would do anything to win. Kinda like a Bill Bellicheat but only he has a nicer and kinder faux public image, and having BSPN prop you up helps a whole lot as well.
