speaking of this, to show you how incredibly douchy Duke is, there was a brand of whiskey that was sued by Duke university for calling itself "The Duke" named after John Wayne. Turns out Duke U wanted the money that they were making off of it. Fuck Duke http://www.cnn.com/2014/07/09/showbiz/john-wayne-duke-dispute/
He definitely knows how to get it done, he does it the wrong way but I guess at the end of the day all that matters are the results. I tip my cap in that regard, I just hate how he wins and how he has ruined basketball.
Good for Bo Ryan for calling out that BS after the game too. he and his team got screwed. http://www.foxnews.com/sports/2015/...-ryan-rips-officiating-after-ncaa-title-game/ how does an official missed a player stepping OOB underneath the basket? white shoe on black OOB line.
That was classless from Bo Ryan. I thought the Harrison twins should've been ashamed of themselves for their behavior after their loss to Wisconsin Saturday night, but at least they are only 20 years old with a lot to learn. But for a longtime coach to show the same sour grapes? And to take passive aggressive shots at Duke and the officials. If he had a problem with the officiating he should just said it instead of beating around the bush like a scorned woman but the comments about "rent a players" was the worst ones he made
Just off the top of my head: clear charge on Winslow that they call block and he hits 2 FTs ball OOB clearly off duke, they give it back to duke after that Winslow steps OOB and passes to Okafor for bucket and foul Kaminsky backs his man down, clear flop but it's called a charge Winslow charges Again but this time no call against either team ball clearly goes off duke on replay, they review it and give ball back to duke there were more but those are just the highlights of the last few minutes, never mind Wisconsin averages 12.5 fouls per game and had 13 in 2nd half or that duke was in bonus w/ 11 mins to play and Wisc never got there.
the rent a player stuff was uncalled for, that's CBB today unfortunately but he was dead on about the officiating and he came out and said so. http://finance.yahoo.com/news/wisconsin-coach-rips-refs-cbs-041320936.html
Congratulations to Duke University for winning the 2015 National Championship. They showed us all what talent, hard work, and of course, good coaching, can do when put together.
Duke defended well and Wisconsin didnt get their easy buckets. They'd run their sets and be forced to settle...Dekker was awful too. Dukes best players were in foul trouble all game...Duke was the better team last night regardless of the two bad calls. Okafor picked up a couple of cheapies himself.
it was many more than 2 bad calls and those players in foul trouble should have fouled out. they were spared. duke made shots late and deserve credit for that but w/o the awful callas ALL going duke's way I don't think they win but unfortunately just like 2001 and 2010 the controversies will fade away and when the dust settles they'll have another trophy and banner.
Wisconsin has no one to blame but themselves for not being able to defend a simple ball screen. Duke's guards won the game for them.
duke won b/c they got to the line, they defended them well for the most part but duke kept going to the line. that ball screen is a moving screen nearly every time.
Wisconsin is the king of the moving screen...their entire offense is predicated on it. Some freshman they didnt game plan for went on an 8-0 run by himself...quick guards gave Wiscy issues all year and it bit them again. The refs stunk both ways. Duke got to the line because they went to the basket....Wisconsin was settling all night.
they also didn't take advantage in the 1st half when Okafor/Winslow were in foul trouble. Okafor sat for long periods of that game and Wisconsin didn't get a edge from it. When he came back in he dominated. Wisconsin didn't play great D and Dekker had an off night, it happens, that's how they were able to get to the title game.
they both move and only Carolina gets called for it every game. that 8-0 run he got to the line twice when barely touched.
Okafor never plays very good defense. at least as a freshman. He is a dominate offensive player though. I hope the Knicks draft him
